Fish tavern the rock, Leo family — Restaurant in Municipality of Marathonas

Terrible service even on a slow hour. We got there way before the casual Greek dinner time (about 6pm) when half the tables were empty. Even if I counted at least 5 different servers, they were EXTRA slow, indifferent and almost rude. We had to ask 3 times to make an order and 4 times for the bill. Other than that, they didn't have a high chair for babies, they brought us plastic bottle of water when we sat (terrible Greek tavern habit), and the food was mediocre overall. I used to visit this place the previews four summers. The atmosphere is great. The food WAS good. This summer changed completely. The fries were the worst quality frozen ones (they used to be homemade), the boiled salad smelled like it had been in the freezer forever (green beans), the swordfish had a persistent bad smell, and the fried calamari were cooked in bad oil. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want them to think I was trying to avoid paying, but I won’t go back. You might see older positive reviews I’ve written about this restaurant, but...

We stopped at this quaint restaurant for lunch after a snorkeling tour. This is a great local seafood restaurant located right on the ocean with great views. We had a light lunch with items from the appetizer section of the menu... fried zucchini, fried eggplant, calamari, French fries, bread and beer. The meal was fresh and delicious. You will need to add a little salt to taste, but the flavor is good. I highly recommend a stop here to any adventurous traveler seeking an authentic local Greek dining experience.
