TO ARXONTIKO 1967 — Restaurant in Municipality of Marousi

My work is near this restaurant and I've visited it many times since 2013. Back then the quality was good and prices were just a bit higher than average. Unfortunately, as time passed the quality was going down while prices went up. The last 5 years I've experienced some issues (e.g. really salty meatballs, not well cooked beef, overcooked chicken, yesterday's food served as freshly made, etc). Such experiences became more and more often lately and today is the last time for me to eat from this place...

We ordered two chicken skewers, one with mashed potatos and one with grilles vegetables, and a bulgur salad with grilled vegetables and feta cheese. The first skewer (with mashed potatos) was really overcooked, almost burnt. The second skewer was roasted OK. The thing is that both skewers smelled really bad. Something like to be many days in the fridge waiting to be cooked or really bad chicken quality. We ate only couple of bites. I wonder if the first was intentionally overcooked to cover the bad smell with burn-smell... The mashed potatos were not well made, no flavor at all. The grilled vegetables were definately made one or more days ago and included mainly peppers and mushrooms. No potatos, and two tiny slices of zucchini. Finally, the salad included really few and small pieces of feta cheese and was definately made at least yesterday.

I think all the above are unacceptable for a restaurant with these prices and so many years operating. As I said, for me it is the last time eating...

Went here as good reviews - mostly - and busy, which is usually a good indicator. Attentive waitress and staff generally but we had to move our table back as the chap serving the table next to us banged into my husband's chair every time he passed! Both had mussels to start. The worst tasted in any restaurant - dry, no sauce, overcooked as if pre-packed and frozen. We told the waitress but didn't seem to make a difference. The stifado was, again, overcooked and some chewy. My husband had the roquefort chicken, which he said although poorly presented was actually tasty, hence the one star given. Well this place is phenomenal, I'm in here at least 1-2 a week, trying different Greek dishes. The atmosphere is very relaxing and cool even on very hot sunny day. The waiters are so nice and always get food to you in a timely fashion. The people behind the counter, serving the food can recommend you so many tasty meals that you will wind up really enjoying. There is just so much personality here, that makes me love coming back time after time. The only downside is they close at 18:00 (6pm for Americans 😂😂) wish they stayed open longer for ones like me that get...
