Αμπελάκια Taverna — Restaurant in Municipality of Monemvasia

A family business ran by humble people but I can't sugar coat it. Tables are in a nice open area but toilets are a mess. Service was very unprofessional. They have no menus. They just tell you what they cooked that day not mentioning the prices. Sounds hip? Well it may be, until they invite you (everyone) in the serving area, to check the dishes. Food looks absolutely awful, stale meat, dry pasta, dry veggies. You choose your posion, they fish it out of the pots, heat it up and literally throw it on the plates. I'm not a fancy guy, but I never cared about plating until I saw how bad it can look. Food was either blunt or oily and the portion size was maybe half the regular. Of course the bad experience was topped when we asked for the bill. The prices are a bit over the touristy fancy restaurants you find in Monemvasia. Overall a terrible experience and I hope this kind of reviews will encourage them...

My partner and I had lunch at this restaurant as it was close to the hotel we were staying at and it was highly recommended by the hotel's staff. I am soooo grateful we went. The food was delicious and very well cooked. Had lots of flavour - amazing traditional greek dishes available. We had the lamb, meatballs and the stuffed aubergines. The meal was soooo good we went back for dinner, where we were served a mixed grilled with chickens grown in their own farm, lamb chops and pork skewers. We also tried their house wine which they produced. Words can't express how good the food and the wine were. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area. Amazing experience. Authentic rustic and friendly. Super nice guy served us and cooked the food, food straight from the garden. Adorable little daughter brought utensils to the table super cute definitely a family run place. The food was to die for, vegan options, the zucchini, potato, eggplant lasagna dish is the best thing I have ever eaten. Fantastic...
