Solon Restaurant - Cafe — Restaurant in Municipality of Nafplio

I had dinner at Solon Restaurant while i was holidaying at Tolo September 2019. I ordered stuffed vegies. The waiter didn't tell me that the food was not cooked on the day even when I asked for "vegetable traditional dish of the day". He only told me later that, if I want something fresh I should have order meat. The waiter apparenlty has advised me "not to ask if the dish is "today's dish" as you don't know what you are going to "be served" in other words you are "lucky" you speak the language.. that what It came out of his mouth. I found this unprofessional and opportunistic behaviour which the management should take notice and train its staff, If you are local you are looked after if you are a tourist you eat @@@ I would never return to...

Decided to try here because it wasn't far away from our accomodation and the prices seemed reasonable. Service was efficient and the staff were friendly. The food however, we were very disappointed in. Partially due to quantity and partially due to some being overcooked. We ordered the octopus and received 1 octopus leg which was €15.90 I believe. We have been a lot of places and had octopus and this place was easily the worst value. One leg in the middle of a plate. My partner had the feta parcel which he said was ok, and I had the chicken souvlaki which was overcooked. We did mention the souvlaki to the waiters and received a small complimentary dessert. The stars we have given are very much for the location...

We first came here after a swim, but the food was so good we returned virtually every lunch time and again in the evenings. The Greek salad is excellent, very fresh ingredients. Likewise their burgers were very tasty. The service is very friendly and welcoming. Be aware that their portions are huge! I highly recommend the pork steak, it was the best I have ever tasted, moist, tender and delicious. Their carafe of house wine (white) is more than palatable, but for a very reasonable 8 euros try their own bottled white wine, it was so nice we had two bottles.
