We arrived too late to truly enjoy the view but everything else about this place was beautiful. They really hit that sweet spot between cozy and elegant. Making you at once feel both like you’re at home and being fancy.
The salmon main was delicious. And the mushroom risotto was better than I’ve had elsewhere in Greece. Definitely much better food than you might expect at a place known mainly for its view. The sweet Raki at the end of the meal was also a uniquely tasty experience. This was unlike any of the Raki we tried anywhere else in the Balkans. Perfect for anyone that doesn’t like the often very harsh taste of this regional, almost like moonshine, type of liquor. I wish I had asked about buying a bottle to take with us.
And the service was outstanding. From the moment we wandered in without a reservation until we left just after closing time, everyone was warm, welcoming, attentive, and accommodating. I point this out specifically because we noticed many reviews saying the exact opposite and that just wasn’t our experience at all. As the night went on, we felt more and more like friends and family.
We experienced none of negatives others have noted and would visit again in a heartbeat. Although next time we would be sure to do so earlier in the day so as to fully enjoy the daytime view and the sunset.
Parking is plentiful either in their lot or along the side of the road heading uphill.
And yes, they bring and pour you bottled water without asking but this is standard operating procedure for many island eateries where drinking tap is ill advised or not even offered. This is a classy destination restaurant you’ll likely visit during peak summer season and €2 for a 1 liter bottle is perfectly reasonable, barely more than the €1-1.50 you’ll pay at a convenience store mini market in town if buying by the bottle. We paid €3-5 for the same at some...
Read moreDisappointing Experience at Rotonda Naxos - Not Worth the HypeI recently visited Naxos Island with my family, and after hearing so much about Rotonda Naxos, I was excited to experience it for myself. My sister-in-law had recommended the restaurant, not for the food, but for the supposedly stunning view. Unfortunately, my visit left me feeling incredibly disappointed. We made a reservation the day before and even spent 50 euros on a taxi to ensure we arrived on time. However, upon arriving, we were seated at a table two rows behind the front, in a corner with barely any view at all. My chair was positioned with my back to the scenery, and my family could only see the sky and other diners' tables. The whole point of visiting Rotonda Naxos was to enjoy the panoramic view, and instead, we were stuck staring at the building and the kitchen. To make matters worse, the restaurant was half-empty, and there were two tables available at the front with the perfect view—yet we were not seated there. Those tables remained empty for the entire two hours we were there, which made the situation even more frustrating. We even got up at one point to take a family picture near the front tables to capture the sunset, but it hardly made up for the disappointment of the evening. To top it all off, the food was mediocre at best, certainly not worth the 120 euros we spent. In total, we spent 220 euros (100 on taxis and 120 on food) for an experience that was supposed to be all about the view, but instead left us feeling let down. I would not recommend Rotonda Naxos, especially if you’re expecting to enjoy the scenery—it’s just not...
Read moreThe place is an experience on its own. Breathtaking sunset, beautiful decoration that gives an essence of luxury and simplicity. The tables have generous space between them and the music is in such volume that allows you to easily have a conversation with your company without hearing others or being heard. The service of the restaurant is impeccable, with very fast and polite waiters that often know what you want before you even ask (like an ashtray that was automatically delivered to me). As long as it concerns the food options, the restaurant provides a big variety of dishes including some traditional options with a gourmet essence, fresh pasta as well as some very meaty interesting options, like the sous vide pancetta I got that was served with the most delicious sweet potato puree I have ever eaten. Overall you won't be disappointed by the food unless you order the pesto pasta which was mediocre. Prices are a bit high per plate, but because there are not that many options for starters and the main dishes portions are big, you'll end up paying 25-30€ per person including drinks. Also take into consideration that you'll probably need a reservation. Overall highly...
