Paralia Grill — Restaurant in Municipality of Oropos

We were on a 10 day Greek Food Tour in Greece over the last week and a half. Our last night we were all too tired to drive over 1 hour to another restaurant that we had already been to. We decided to take a walk along the shore and found Paralia Grill. Of ALL of the places we visited, this was by far our favorite restaurant and experience! The food was beyond incredible, grandma was in the kitchen preparing our food! The prices were reasonable, the owners were beyond hospitable. Then let’s talk about the portions and the authentic, fresh, melt in your mouth deliciousness! Tomatoes and herbs were fresh from the garden that day (no pesticides used), the seafood and meat melted in our mouths, the platter of steamed mussels was 4 times what I would get here in the US and sooo incredible. Getting to and from Greece was a very long flight and we are all completely exhausted almost to the point that I never want to travel that far again. The first time I visited the restaurant, I ordered wrapped souvlaki and skewers to take home. Although I had to wait a bit longer (I was first in line but two other customers were served before me), the souvlaki was freshly grilled and tasty. When I asked for an extra pita for the kids, the lady at the counter politely explained that the skewer already came inside a pita.

The second time, I placed almost the same order, but the experience was completely different. The souvlaki didn’t seem freshly grilled but rather prepared about an hour earlier, and when we got home, we found that instead of pita with the skewers, they had given us bread. The kids were very disappointed.

Unfortunately, this inconsistency in quality and in fulfilling the order left us disappointed, and we will most likely not...

We explored this side of the town and I saw the photos of their Dakos and decided that was where we were to go. Little did I know that there would be a seating area on the water…a dream come true. Our hostess was lovely, with great humour and hospitality. We enjoyed every bite of salad, meat and fish. Freshly prepared by the family of chefs. What a gem of a place. We will be back.
