The worst people ever I met in my 10 years experience travelling through all Greece. I would rate them 0 but it is not possible. The perfect Greek Drama happened here...We parked out our scooter at the entrance of the descent to the bar very near to the public street in a place where was supposed did not make any disturb to any people. We parked our motorbikes under a tree immediately after a gate where other cars were already parked leaving all the spaces for any car related manouvre. The pavement was made of rocks and pebbles not even concrete so we supposed was a nice place to park without disturbing anyone. There were no signs of any private property, no signs of any parking place reserved for Ben's bar customers were affixed around. We descent to the beach and we moved to the other beach bar: The Monodendri, that's because the waves were quite high on that corner of the beach. Suddenly the unpleasant and impolite Ben's owner came yelling and screaming to us all along the beach ordering to move immediately our motorbike from the street because in his opinion was parked in the middle of his road. First of all was not parked in the middle of the road, second you do not yell in front of stranger you do not know and third I replied to him that what he was saying wasn't true but we were going to remove the motorbike anyway for his own pleasure after having payed the owner of the other bar for renting sunbeds and umbrella. The owner of the other bar was in front of us and saw all the meager behaviour of the poor Ben. Then Ben started yelling again: you must move now, as if we were his servants, he was acting with the worst bossy behaviour ever, like a bossy child that point his foot on the ground crying fir a candy. We decided to remove our motorbike immediately and after that I went towards its bar just to say thank you for your kindness in an ironic way, but the little Ben started yelling again and screaming "Mallaka" and other bad-words in greek language supported by the laughs of his improvised waiter/tress. Maybe they were angry because we decided to stay at the other beach bar. The best part of the Ben's drama action is the end when the gentle 60yo mum arrived to take part of his poor bossy 40yo son menacing me to leave their bar immediately.... Well this is just my experience @ Ben's Bar a very welcoming place in Paxos, just the time to take a look and I decided they not worth a single second of my life.... Please do not waste your time and money with this unwelcoming people, if we are speaking of people, because good manner behaviour and kindness do not live here. Much better idea is to move around to the other side of the beach at least people are kind and attentive, this is my suggestion.... Ben's Bar people just deserve and learn how to act with humankind before running any sort of commercial and customer related activities...but this is another story on another planet and in another time...all the best to them for their bright welcoming future!! Just want to say back what they wished to me thinking I was not...
Read moreI have read a lot of wonderful recomendations about Ben's Bar and was looking forward to spend a day there with my friends.
We went to the beach a little after 01:00 pm and saw that it was fully covered by sunbeds. We had our own beach covers and did not want to use any sunbeds.
To not disturb anyone, we went to the far left part of the beach, where it ends beneath some shrubs and we placed our mats behind the sunbeds. At that time most of them were empty (only 8-10 sunbeds had guests, while 20-30 others were empty). There was no one else seated where we chose to sit.
After only a few minutes someone from the restaurant came and told us we had to go, because they had a legal understanding with the government that the entire beach in front of their taverna was off limits to non-paying-guests.
I was astonished at this ideea as I knew that greek beaches have other rules for sunbed occupancy by tavernas. After I told him we were staying without paying for sunbeds but we intended to have dinner at their establishment, he said we had 5 minutes to leave or he will call the Police. I told him to go ahead and call the cops and we will see who is right.
That guy called someone and after 15 minutes on the phone, told us we can stay "because he wants no hassle" there but he doesn't need us as guests at his tables and to have our meal elsewhere.
We've been having holidays in Greece for 15 years and this is the first time we had such a dreadful encounter. It is such a dissapointment considering the pristine image we had...
Read moreThe place is beautiful, and the staff is friendly at first glance. We asked about the sunbed prices, and they mentioned the amount, but at the moment of paying the bill, they told us that the previously mentioned price was per person and not for the set. I felt like a tourist trap. The prices at the bar are so overpriced - it's the only place in Paxos that we saw a beer for 10 euros!
About the restaurant, it's another tourist trap: we asked for the menu and the rude lady told us all the options and put pressure on us to order soon - she never mentioned the prices or let us check them (the menu was handwritten in a notebook). At the moment of paying, I asked why we paid so much and at that moment she told us the prices, acting like we should have been aware of it. The impression I had was that I signed a blank check.
Unfortunately, all this happened at the same time... we were on the sunbeds and decided to go for lunch. So we had the first surprise with the restaurant, and I was so pissed off that I decided to pay for the sunbeds and got the second one. My only conclusion is that these people are...
