My latest trip visiting family had me traveling around Greece for 3 weeks, and Alati & Piperi was the most delicious restaurant (out of a lot of very good options between Chania, Athens, Thessaloniki, Kastoria, Elis)..
Upon arriving, we were welcomed by the friendly owners to a beautiful, large courtyard covered by grape leaves and trees.
The owner came by to explain the various specials and formally welcome us to his restaurant. Their menu is huge with all of the classics plus some rare Greek dishes that are absolutely worth trying.
The food came out quickly and was hot and very fresh. The calamari and kolokithaki were both delicious and perfectly seasoned.. the saganaki was one of the best we had on our trip. They also shared some delicious bread with olives which were a great snack.
The house white wine was wonderful, I could drink it all day while eating mezze.
Finally our main dishes, papoutsakia, bacalaro with skordalia, and whole lavraki on the grill.. each dish was fantastic.. so much flavor with fresh ingredients and large portions.
This was our last evening in Greece otherwise we would’ve come back the very next day. Prices were very reasonable especially with how tasty the food was.. seriously this is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to out of 3+ dozen or so in Greece. They deserve a Michelin star because I absolutely would go out of my way to visit Alati & Piperi.

Read moreHonestly, perfect. We went to the water park, just a 12-minute drive from the restaurant. We came thanks to the reviews, and the wisdom of the crowd did not disappoint. We arrived at the town around 4 PM, and at first everything looked closed, but the restaurant—tucked away in a small alley—was open.
The place is beautiful, with shading made by grapevines full of grapes. Amazing. The host, Michael, was very kind and welcoming. We were a family of five (kids aged 10, 8, and 4). We ordered the salad named after the restaurant, which turned out to be one of the tastiest things we’ve ever had, moussaka (delicious—it surprisingly reminded me of Grandma’s mafrum), steak (HUGE—the host honestly advised us not to order it for a child, but… we did. It was okay, nothing more; better to go for a different dish), pork ribs, and fish (which was excellent!!!). Still, the dish that stood out the most was the salad.
For dessert, they spoiled us with figs, watermelon, and even grapes picked straight from the vines above us. In short: amazing people, warm hospitality, beautiful setting, and...
Read moreHave been recommended this restaurant by a hotel receptionist when I was visiting the area. That day, it was packed, but the food was amazing.
Had the opportunity to visit again on a number of occasions as my business took me back in the area. Michael, the owner, is an exceptional host, and takes a personal interest in all his guests. Nowadays, I'm not as regular a customer as I'ld like to be, but I am a customer who keeps returning at every possible opportunity.
My suggestion is, just set aside the menu, especially if you are a big group, and just let Michael work his magic. He is honest (if a bit biased in favour of the local beer), the bill won't break the bank, and you'll eat a feast which you will remember for the rest...
