Don't waste your time reading this review! JUST GO AND EXPERIENCE THIS AMAZING PLACE! The views are amazing and the food is equally as good. I am afraid of heights, but I felt secure the whole time and was in awe of the beauty this restaurant provides! Our group ordered a wide variety of food and everyone enjoyed their meals. The prices are fair (especially for the ambience) and the portions are large. If you do not feel like sitting outside, there are seats inside, away from the edges. Additionally, there are more seats on the outside deck that are a little further up the side of the restaurant. We did have one person with a handicap, but they were able to walk the stairs up into the restaurant. But please keep in mind that there is no elevator. There is a Cafe prior to reaching the restaurant while driving that is handicap accessible. But we did not stop there. There is no parking lot for the restaurant and you will need to park on the side of the road. There was only one person servicing the customers and making drinks and one person cooking when we visited. He was running to the other tables (5 other tables during our visit). Once you arrive at Samaria Gorge, somehow sitting high above the cascading switchbacks necessary to get there, you'll find your haven in Restaurant Xyloskalo. Not only will you be surrounded by the majesty of Greece's most beautiful mountains, but you'll be dined as if you were invited into the homes of the Greek gods themselves. And if you're lucky, you'll be well taken care of by Babi and his endearing humor.

I find it hard to write this review, but you have to visit and see for yourselves. If you can - sit next to the pine tree in the corner, enjoy the shade and have a peek at the old roots wrapping around the rocks.
Other than that the food was actually delicious, something I didn't expect from (what I assumed is) a tourist hotspot. I had stuffed vegetables and some of the local cheese...
