I didn't know so many things could go wrong in a single restaurant, but let's start from the beginning.
We were encouraged by the restaurant's location and reviews (4.4 stars, as of the day of writing). The location is rather nice, a restaurant on a hill, surrounded by a green area. Once we came, we were greeted by the service. The first waiter told us to wait, while once the second came, we got a table right away.
Most of the meat items on the menu were unavailable (shame), so we decided to take Greek salad, pork steak and chicken fillet and this is where it's getting worse.
The bread we received was dry and old. It was very hard to chew it. The salad itself was very nice, the veggies were nice and firm, as well as the feta cheese. You can't say a bad thing about the salad.
The main courses came together. The pork steak had a 'green side'. We asked the waiter about this matter - we didn't get an explanation. We were only asked 'Will you cut it by yourself or do you want me to get it back to the kitchen and cut it there'. We had no idea what the green thing was. On top of that, the meat quality was rather poor.
The chicken fillet wasn't prepared correctly. The skin wasn't cut off. Perhaps someone is a fan of such a way of preparing but I wasn't. The taste of it was a mixture of something fishy and a chicken. I couldn't tell what was wrong with it.
The fries that we got with the dishes weren't fried properly. By that I mean it was more of boiled in the oil than actually fried. I am assuming, that the oil temperature was too low.
We also ordered coke zero, which we have never received, but we cleared it out with the service.
About the service - we have heard the service arguing with the customers just because they wanted to pay separately. One other waiter was clapping, as if he was doing it ironically.
As a cherry on the icing - the flush in the women's toilet wasn't working, but there was a simple solution. Outside the toilets there was a hose. Some women (no idea if it was the service) used the hose to flush down the toilet. Gross...
It surely was my worst dining experience in Greece. There's obviously a possibility that it was all just some coincidence (given that the average is above 4 stars), but we just weren't lucky enough to experience that.
I would advise you to...
Read moreWell, let me start by saying every place we ate at Poros greece was lovely with the exception of this restaurant. This restaurant, on the other hand, was a huge disappointment called Paraiso restaurant. We went to this restaurant with high hopes that it would be a gem of a restaurant considering the location, but we were completely wrong. Our first impression was that ambiance was beautiful with a playground, hamock, and lots of greenery. Then we realized the quality of the food was horrible. The food that we got was a huge disappointment and we couldn't even eat our food. Everything went wrong from the french fries. It was undercooked(huge disappointment), and salad was dry with not enough dressing. The pastitso flavor was overpowering with cinnamon, and it was brought to us cold. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this restaurant at all costs!!!!! It was super pricey and poor quality food. It's not worth it. We hated our experience. Save you money and please...
Read moreThis is a wonderful, authentic Greek restaurant with great home cooking by Mama. The family has been here for generations, and its hilltop position commands great scenic views. The food is wonderful, the welcome genuine and the prices very fair. There are lovely wooden structures high above some of the tables where green vines intertwine, giving shade from the sun. There are clean toilets with a picture of a Cockerell and a hen on the respective doors! The only disadvantage may be that if you can't walk up a steep and winding road you have to take a taxi ( about 10eu each way), take a car or hire some kind of bike. This means that you can see the few stones that remain from Poseidon's Temple en route, from which tranquil vantage point the views are stunning! Well worth a visit, however...
