White Lady Taverna — Restaurant in Municipality of Rethymnon

Without a doubt, the most memorable couple of nights that we had while we were in Crete. This is a family run business and it really shows - there's such warmth between all of them. We were walking past one evening and heard some live Greek music being played. The place was also pretty much full, with a lot of locals, so we decided to wander in and have a look. After a few drinks, a delicious plate of cheese and biscuits, and a couple of chats with one of the sons of the owners, we were hooked. It was just so welcoming. We loved it so much, that we booked a table for the following evening. The food was incredible. An amazing array of different dishes, many local. The drinks were fantastic - if you have the chance to try a Greek Mojito (Metaxa used in place of the usual white rum) then do it! A fun little drink which packs a punch. We had a selection of different items from fresh fish, to Stifado, pizza, pasta and Gyros. Everything was cooked to perfection. It's really good "stick to your ribs" food, which left us very satisfied. They often have live entertainment here too - live Greek music one night courtesy of a keyboard player, guitarist and femal vocalist, then a Welsh Neil Diamond impersonator the next! If you want some wonderfully cooked food, delicious drinks and, above all, fun, then this is the place for you. The atmosphere is brilliant, the owners and their family are fun and friendly, and everyone there was having a great time. I can't recommend it enough. Feel like in Greek home! :)

We were really satisfied, happy and full while visiting White Lady Taverna during our holidaday in Rethymno area in Crete. Delicious food, rich menu and such a friendly owners and staff. The tavern is run by the cheerful family who come to your table not just to take an order but to get to know you tell few words about themselves, Greece or their business. You will always get a small starter, ouzo, fruits at the end. As for dishes you can choose from greek mezzes, meat, fishes, etc. We ate mostly fishes and sea food and they were great! Portions are big and sitting there and slowly enjoying your food it's just a pleasure. Mezze tasted like a home made food, cooked with love. :)

Due to covid restrictions there was no music but laughter of guest, waiters and sound of shots with ouzo crated a nice music and ambient. I can imagine how great must be there with live...

Wonderful tavern for vegans! We visited there 3 times during our 9 days holiday in crete, It was a privilege to meet with Vasilis, Nicos and of course the White Lady herself Antonia! The most important point is there is a huge Vegan option in their menu!! (thank you again Antonia, cause it's her idea) If you are vegan like us who search traditional option, here is the best I guess. Secondly, live music starts from 20:30 until 01:00 without pause woow what a performance ... 3 great talented musicians if you're lucky like us you can see some local dance performances that was unique also.
