It’s the first I will write a review like this because it’s the first time in my life that I have been treated like this! I come from Rhodes I live here and we visited this restaurant with my family and friends for a celebration. I have been there before with a friend the food was nice and we had been served on time. But this time our order has been taken 20 minutes after we had arrived, another big table of about ten people was already eating and we got served after 30 minutes. In the meanwhile 4 more people arrived and they got served before us.So at some point we asked why the food was taking so long and the waitress just smiled. The first plates arrived at 09: 30 and the last ones at almost 11. At the end the owner and cook of the restaurant came to us and instead of asking how everything was or to apologize for the delay ironically said I heard you had complaints? So I thought he was joking and then he continued by saying that Greeks want all the food at the same time and he looked soooo upset just because we asked why the food was taking a long time! And also he commented that we had eaten everything, of course we did we were hungry! He ruined our evening for regretted going back to this restaurant. They didn’t ask if we wanted to pay but in the meanwhile they, him and the waitresses, it’s a family restaurant, were talking and looking at us like if we were the worst customers! There is no way for this owner to improve because he obviously doesn’t want to hear anything negative about his restaurant. And we didn’t even complain. It’s a shame and I feel very sorry because this man comes from Rhodes too and in general we are very hospitable people but not him. I am really sorry and disappointed,...
Read moreThis is a genuinely outstanding restaurant. The head chef, Chris, has a rich history of cooking from a lifetime spent serving others, whether at land or sea.
And so it is no surprise that the dishes he prepares are delightfully thoughtful, whether the nuanced ceviche, the perfectly fried small fish, the complex yet refined desserts or the fish, that is as fresh as the day itself.
But what makes Almyra stand out on an island full of wonderful ingredients cooked in a beautiful cuisine is his family. Chris, his wife and his daughters have created an oasis of calm right by a coast that even mythology and legend believes is special. They looked after us like their own each time we went and their passion came through in every dish. It was like being at home and being in a Michelin starred restaurant all at once.
If you are within a few miles of Fanes, this is definitely worth the visit. The food is genuinely top notch.
The people who serve it to you are...
Read moreDishes: Very tasty dishes, well presented with variety of aroma. Only the grilled octopus was for my taste bad ( hard and kept to long on grill, I don't like taste of coal-fired food).
Ambient: Nice view on harbour, simple but ok tables.
Service: Here the young ladies have much to learn. For them their handys are more important then the only guests in the restarant. After nice reception, rest was usual for unqualified and not engagend service. They even didn't bother to clean the emty plates. They don't look for eye contact with guests. Good that we choose a 4 person table and move to 'clean' space. For bill I needed to go to their table and ask for it.
In general tasty food but because of the service won't come there during my stay anymore. Maybe next year I will give this place...
