Angelaki Taverna — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

This was our last dinner during our visit to the island and it finished with greatness! First of all, the waiter, cousin of the owner, was the most relaxed waiter we have ever met at any restaurant. Smooth, efficient, and happy to show you the fish they have for the day inside the kitchen, what a nice guy! We had Tzatsiki, which came with Garlic Pita bread, it was amazing. Afterwards came the cheese balls, which just melt in your mouth. I couldn't stop eating them, and we even thought of ordering more just to take home haha We order Mousaka, and a fresh fish with homemade fries. The Mousaka was enormous and the best we ever had. Unfortunately after the devastating wildfires of July 22 the whole restaurant was destroyed. For the moment situation is a huge operation going on for the recovery of the area of south rhodes ,including the rebuild of this historic taverna, hopping it will be ready for the next season. There is a Facebook page, where some can contribute to the rebuild of this place. Great small family operated Greek traditional restaurant with very friendly staff and delicious local dishes. We have been here about 4 times in 1 week and we will most likely be back a million more times in our stay. Photos don't do this place any justice because the food is just unbelievable. Hands down one of the best places we have been in Rhodes. Traditional and fresh homemade foods. The meats just fall off the bones and melt in your mouth and the Greek dishes are amazing ( This is coming from someone that says that "no one cooks like yiayia" ) You know it is good when your family from Greece and many locals are going as well.
