We went to explore the local area of Theogolos tonight. We heard about the actual small village of Theologos, and heard from a guy at the Bus Stop, "there wasn't much going on, but there was a bar, and someplace to eat" He did add it was a lovely little area.
So my wife and I jumped off the bus nearby, on our way home from Rhodes Town. I was met on arrival by a very friendly lad (huge apologies, we never caught any names of the staff) He shook my hand, got us a table, and menu's. I nipped to the bathroom, and on returning, a basket of bread had been brought to my wife, with oils, etc. We had some tzatziki with it. I also had a glass of wine, and my wife a Fanta.
All good so far.
We ordered a Large Chicken Souvlaki, and a Large Pork Souvlaki (they only came in large) As its all freshly made, we sat outside for a bit, soaking up the atmosphere. There were a few cats dotting about, and as I'm not a big fan, we decided to move inside.
The food came, and..... WOW! It was Large! But absolutely fantastic. Both served with home-made chips, and rice. And all so flavoursome. My only complaint, there was loads of food. But that's a positive complaint, right?
The guys running Drosia were over chatting, and were so friendly. After getting through ¾'s of our meal, we threw the towel in. Stuffed. They brought the remainder of chicken and pork we couldn't finish, through to us in a container, and advised "a small desert is on its way!"
While we were fit to burst, we gave it a try. It was a light sponge, with an iced top.... again very tasty.
Our final challenge of the night.... getting home. It's very slightly out of the way, and being tired from a day of exploring Rhodes, we tried to get a taxi. As its early season, it wasn't happening, so we were offered a lift home, by a young chap, who was involved in the running of Drosia (i think he was the Boss? But he was also actually the grandson, of the original restaurant owner) But again, a very very friendly guy.
And we were so grateful for the lift. On arriving back at our hotel, I tried to leave him a few Euros for a beer, but he refused.
The staff are so genuine, friendly, and made a good night great.
My wife and I can't speak highly enough of the restaurant and staff. They are a family run place, and definitely deserve a visit.
Excellent stuff👌🏼 Thank you Drosia
**I did put "moderate noise" but this was merely background, restaurant music, that was lovely, and chilled.
Also, I believe the restaurant help with transport if you'd like to visit them. I'd guess to contact them in advance to...
Read more5 stars for Friday's visit. Fantastic food and great service. so we returned today and walked out after waiting almost an hour to take our order and then another 30 mins to bring drinks with 4 tables (of Greek people) who arrived after us being served with food and drinks. We then received one starter out of the 3 we ordered and nothing more for another 15 mins without being acknowledged by any of the staff. It was now 10:30pm and we had arrived before 9. To give them their due they waived the cost of our drinks when we went to pay for them. Being busy is understandable, serving others that had arrived well after us without even acknowledging us or apologising for the wait is not. We also weren't the only people that got up and left after becoming fed up of others being served first. So one star for tonight's visit. Such a shame but we felt it was due to our nationality that others got preference during what was obviously a...

What a fantastic surprise! We stumbled upon Drosia on our very last day in Rhodes, just on the way to the airport – and we instantly regretted not finding it sooner.
The atmosphere is absolutely charming, set right on the village square with a relaxed, authentic vibe that makes you feel like part of the local rhythm. The food? Simply delicious. Every dish was full of flavor and made with care.
Portions are enormous – starters here could easily pass as mains elsewhere, and the main dishes were generous enough to feed two or even three people. It’s the kind of place where you eat well, laugh loud, and linger longer than planned.
This local restaurant is a true gem. If we had discovered it earlier, we would have happily returned every single day during our...
