Taverne The Castle — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

Four of us ate here after visiting the nearby Castle of Monolithos. Both my wife and me had the chicken gyro wrap and we both agreed that it was the best chicken gyro we had anywhere on the island during our holiday. The staff were very helpful especially when one of our party asked about portion sizes as they were looking for a snack more than a meal. This resulted in a change of order and a much happier customer when their choice arrived. The location is ideal after visiting the castle as it is at the parking area and the path up/down is steep. Cost wise we had 4 meals and drinks which in total...

Meine Freundin musste auf die Toillette, weshalb wir von der Verkäuferin bereits unfreundlich darauf hingewiesen wurden, dass nur Kunden diese nutzen dürfen... also kauften wir etwas ohne Diskussion und bekamen den Schlüssel. Nachdem meine Freundin fertig war, dachte ich mir, dass es nicht schadet, wenn ich auch fix gehe... Während ich noch "beschäftigt" war. Hörte ich vor der Tür die Frau (wie eine Furie) meine Freundin anschreien, wie es denn sein kann, dass ich jetzt auch gehe! Meine Freundin entschuldigte sich worauf nur ein Geschrei folgte "NO SORRY NO SORRY" Als ich denn fertig war, brüllte sie mich an: "is it clean? Is it clean" (natürlich war es das, ich weiß ja, wie man eine Klobürste benutzt) ich sagte ihr das, woraufhin sie (nicht aus der Rage zu bringen) mich aufforderte JETZT aufzuschließen und mit ihr nochmal hinein zu gehen. Nach erfolgreicher (und zum Glück bestandener) Kontrolle, schrie sie uns weiter an, wie respektlos es sei, dass wir beide auf dem Klo waren, gefolgt von ein paar mal "no sorry" und "people have to work" nach zwei drei erfolglosen Ansätzen der Erklärung, sind wir dann einfach Richtung Auto gegangen... das Geschrei konnte man zum Glück nicht mehr hören, als die Türen zu waren, was erstaunlich war, bei der Lautstärke, die sie von Anfang bis Ende draufhatte... 1 Stern gibts wohl, weil die überteuerten Chips trotzdem recht lecker waren... Griechische Gastfreundschaft wird hier nicht klein, sondern eher gar nicht geschrieben... Meine Empfehlung: 10m weiter in den Wald gehen, wahrscheinlich ist selbst dort ein großes Geschäft angenehmer, als solch eine...

Was a great experience! Already the journey to this location is awesome (if you come from south/Plimmiri)! The left side of the island is much more beautiful then the right side! The Monolithos Castle is very cool to visit as well, a great panorama view. The Taverne The Castle got great stuff, nice smoothies an very kind people there! I was wondering very much, that they allowed card payment. In austria its even in greater villages not possible.. and Rhodos has it even in small restaurants in the middle...
