Votsalo Restaurant & Beach Bar — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

I had been looking forward to having dinner here and was extremely disappointed by the “Oh no you can’t sit at those tables, they are reserved” line given when we arrived after 8pm on a weekday evening. During our entire meal there were only 5 other tables with patrons in the entire restaurant (I feel the need to emphasize this as I suspect management may respond to this review with some sort of excuse like”we were fully booked”.) The tables we asked to sit at were not in-fact reserved as they were offered to 2 different parties that came in after us, one of whom actually asked to sit somewhere else and was accommodated. When we left the restaurant, well after 9pm, there were still tables available where we had asked to sit. They were empty from the time we arrived, and literally right in front of where we were seated, not in some different area of the restaurant. It’s well known that in Greece the “reserved” table line is used to hold tables for people/groups that the person seating deems “worthy” to sit there, not that they are necessarily reserved. I was quite offended, especially since my dad is from a neighboring town and I have been visiting the area every summer since I was a child. It’s a shame this is how management chooses to run the restaurant as the food was good, but after that treatment I will not be returning nor recommending the restaurant to others. It’s an expensive meal and a patron should have an enjoyable time, especially for the prices being charged. Votsalo is the perfect seaside spot to enjoy delicious food with a stunning view. We had an amazing dinner here everything was fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented.

The seafood kritharoto was rich and creamy, with perfectly cooked shrimp and mussels. We also loved the shrimp pasta, light and full of taste, and the octopus with fava, which was tender and paired perfectly with the smooth purée.

As starters, we had feta cheese balls crispy outside, soft and creamy inside and two fresh salads that complemented the meal perfectly.

The atmosphere was relaxed, the service friendly and professional, and the location couldn’t be better right by the sea.

Votsalo Restaurant was one of the best dining experiences we had in Rhodes. The moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and kindness that immediately made us feel at home. The setting is absolutely stunning, located right by the sea with a calm and relaxing atmosphere that makes every meal feel special.

The food was exceptional from start to finish. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of fresh Mediterranean flavors.
