On August 7, 2025, at around 1:30 PM, I visited Akrogiali Tavern in Samothraki with a group of five and my dog. The restaurant was not overly busy, with about 20 people present. At some point my dog was attacked by a stray cat withch made me extra cautious throughout my lunch. We ordered fresh seafood, including my red snapper, which was avarage not completely fresh caught. Unable to finish the fish it was 850 grama, I asked for the remaining half to be wrapped up to take home. The staff complied. Unfortunately, when we were living i was extra cautious for cats jumping on my dog again and in my rush to leave i have forgotten the box with leftover fish on the table. When I returned just 13 minutes later to retrieve it, I was told it had been thrown away. This was frustrating, as red snapper is expensive, and discarding perfectly good food felt wasteful. I wanted to look for it in the garbage bin to take it and feed it to my dog, but the staff was uncooperative when I expressed my frustration, the manager called me “malaka,” a highly disrespectful term...This unprofessional behavior was shocking, especially in a restaurant known for its hospitality. The manager even grabbed me on my shoulder when i started scrambeling some garbage bin with already thrown paper napkins was completely sure one off them is ours, directed me to another garbage area, but it was clear they wanted to avoid addressing the issue in front of other patrons. While the food quality and scenic location were highlights, the combination of poor handling of leftovers, lack of consideration for pet owners, and the manager’s insult completely ruined our experience. I hope Akrogiali Tavern addresses these issues, including staff training on customer service, food waste policies, and managing stray animals around the dining area. Until improvements are made, I cannot recommend this...
Read moreSeafood here is indeed very good, but you have to know what you prefer. For example, we are not big fans of fried food and the fried shrimps we ordered did not impress us. But then the saganaki shrimps we ordered another day were very delicious. Take note that not all seafood restaurants on the island prepare saganaki shrimps. We also tried the steamed mussels which were good. You just have to eat them very fast, before they get cold, since they do not serve them in a covered pot. They are on an open plate, already split open. The red snapper we also ordered was ok, but not the most delicious fish we had. We recommend dorada, it's a much tastier fish. There is parking with shade, but limited spots. The biggest downside is that it's very crowded most of the times and not enough waiters. You will wait a lot (maybe 30 minutes) to be served and to receive the check. The waiters are not always fast - even if they are not busy - and almost all tables have food left by previous customers. They sometimes take the plates after a new customer arrives. In our view, this is a really bad practice and they should do something about it. The sea view is great if you get a chance to sit by that particular side of...
Read moreThis restaurant is perched on a cliff at the southern end of the island, with a shaded terrace overlooking a stunning view of the beach and sea peaceful, scenic and perfect for a relaxed meal. We arrived early in the afternoon and were actually the first customers, but within the hour the place filled up quickly. Clearly a popular spot. Service was friendly, accurate, and quick. Everything we ordered arrived promptly and with a warm attitude. For starters, we had a Greek salad, tzatziki, and a beetroot salad. All three were simple but well-balanced in seasoning and tasty. For the main course, we had grilled Dorada and Squid. The flavors were good, but both dishes felt like they stayed on the grill just a minute too long. Prices were a bit on the high side compared to other similar restaurants we visited on the island. There's plenty of parking right next to...
