Cantina Analogue Bohemian WIne Gallery Tinos — Restaurant in Municipality of Syros and Ermoupoli

Might just be one of our best meals ever. Certainly the best in Greece so far. Completely unexpected, adorable little bistro on a side street in Ermoupoli, the amazing marble-paved capital of Syros and admin capital of the Cyclades. Creative, amazing preparation, and just downright delicious flavors. The choice was hard, but I think we couldn’t have gone wrong. Cauliflower with umami vinaigrette, roasted hazelnuts and fried leeks; soft, ricotta-like cheese enveloped in wafer thin courgette with basil/courgette purée and basil oil were amazing. And the desserts! The lightest most lemony tart with crunchy pastry and simple whipped cream on top—a perfect blend of citrus without being overly sweet and syrupy—the mastic liqueur so subtle just adding a delicate layer of complexity. The cheesecake nearly indescribably yummy. Crisp crumbled cookie at the bottom with creamy cheese on top with homemade fig jam from nearby Tinos on top adding flavor but not sugar. Super interesting cocktails and a frat selection of local wines. Truly an amazing culinary experience and not one to empty the wallet. Go! Don’t wait. The food was good and a pleasant, modern twist to the traditional Greek cuisine. If I was giving a rating based on the food alone, it would be 4 stars.

What lets this place down is the service. Slow to give us menus and very slow to take our order. I checked the bill before paying and realised that we were overcharged.I raised this with the staff and both waitresses said that they usually double check the printed receipt that they leave on the table against the written order that they have inside, the building before they accept the payment. Seems time consuming to me to the point where I wonder whether that does actually happen. One of the waitresses proceeded to tell me (in Greek) 'Don't stress/ μην αγχώνεστε!' which I found completely unprofessional. All I did was challenge what we had been charged. I told friend about my experience who said that they too had been overcharged so it's worth checking your receipt...

One of the most beautiful café/Restaurant in Hermoupolis with great food and drink options! We were there for breakfast and ordered Espresso and avocado toast. The service was really friendly and the food and coffee pretty good. The building seems to be an old traditional tavern that has been renovated with a lot of love. The amazing botanical mural behind the counter and the very high ceiling makes it feel like a urban oasis were locals come to resource themselves and take a break from the scorching temperatures outside. Unfortunately we just discovered the place before having to leave Syros, but menu also offered many promising meals and drinks for a nice evening gathering with friends. One side of the café had many local products like Ouzo, spices and crackers for sale which allowed us to get some last minute gifts...
