The staff looked at me weirdly (i do not look greek). My friend heard the staff yelling at each other in the kitchen. I do not know what problems they have to deal with but clearly there is something going on when i compare the typical ratings of this place to the experiences we had. In the end, the athenian friends we came with profusely apologized for taking us here, and it is their opinion that this is one of the worst taverns they have ever been to. When we asked for sparkling water they served us Schweppes. The papoutsakia served to my girlfriend looks like an apple crumble and tasted like sadness. We were looking forward to the abelofasoula and they tasted and looked like canned beans, which they massacred with vinegar and oil. The two sets of pasta we ordered probably resulted in the deaths of several italians somewhere on the other side of the Meditarranean sea. The only edible dish was the païdakia. I mean, who could ruin a grilled piece of meat? Then again, the fries they were served with reminded me of the canteen in my childhood school: So uncoocked they could probably be replanted in the ground and would grow if tended carefully. If you think i exagerate, please refer to attached pictures.
I may recommend this tavern to my worst enemy if i am in a sadistic mood.
PS: 4 euros for bread we did not order. Great. PS2: my greek friend reminded me that none of dishes were salted. In my head canon, spices and seasonings stopped existing for the short time we were here. What misfortune! Ps3: no dishes arrived in order nor did they arrive at the same time for any of the...
Read morewe went here because the restaurant looked clean and the prices were relatively okay. worst mistake of my life. we ordered a “lemonade” and “fresh orange juice” with a mixed toastie, fried potato and fried zucchini.
the only thing fresh about the orange juice was that it was fresh out of the carton. the lemonade was only a fanta lemon with no ice served in the glass. already disappointing.
the toastie was with cheese and ham but was basically only with ham. the fried potato was edible but far from what we expected. the inside looked like curdled milk but tasted okay. the fried zucchini was saturated in oil and was completely inedible. we ate 2 and couldn’t continue. my girlfriend felt her stomach ache 5 minutes after eating it, the food was disgusting.
when we went to pay, we were overcharged for bread that we didn’t order or eat. the 2 waitresses were arguing about our bill before they decided to take it off. in the kitchen we heard people screaming abuse at each other and things falling to the floor. there was a child being coddled in the corner by the stove. so dangerous for a child to be in the kitchen like that, especially so young.
all of the good reviews look like they’re written by people who own the place or people who know the owners. i wouldn’t trust any of the good reviews here. worst...
Read moreAn old school Greek tavern. As everybody is switching to pretentious luxury boutiques that shamelessly pander to the socialite crowd, it was nice to find a place that reminded me of how Greece used to be. Family friendly atmosphere with local products grilled to perfection. Fantastic view that really brings you back in time to when Greece was about philoxenia and wasn't concerned with selling you an illusion.
Regardless, I was very happy to see a place like this still doing well. I highly recommend the location for the quality and care they put into their food. We very much enjoyed the rustic charm and quality...
