Initial impressions were nice with a great view and a good looking restaurant. The owner greeted us and was very proud to show off their fresh fish. While ordering food he came around a few times to banter.

We started with the Fava bean dip, which had no flavor. We ordered the fried fish platter. They served us the grilled fish platter instead. We were hungry and didn't want to wait, so we just ate what they gave us without complaining. The fish fillet was decent but not great. The swordfish and calamari had no flavor, and we suspect they were overcooked. I'm really surprised by people saying this was the best food they had and kept coming back. We've had fish all over santorini and this was hands down the worst.

The final insult was the bill padding. The fried platter we ordered cost 38. The platter they gave us was listed at 42. They charged us 45. I tried for 15 minutes to get a waiters attention, but we were in a corner and after food delivery no one came near us. Want the authentic taverna experience - go to Galini! Best authentic Greek dinner we had in Santorini - hands down. We wish we had discovered it sooner so we could eat there again. It’s a must if you are really into food and want the authentic thing. Plates and portions are large so I would recommend sharing. We had so many dishes to share. The white dry wine was also incredible and went perfectly with our fish plates. The sampler appetizer was great way to start and the two people size was more than enough for 4 of us. The baked feta was to die for. The catch of day grilled was when we died and went to heaven. It’s simple clean prep that delights the tastebuds. They treated us to baklava and ice cream. Service was excellent. Place gets packed, if you go a little early like we did you will easily get a table. The view is the sea as this place is right on the shore. Don't go to this place!!! When we entered, we asked if we could have a table at the front row, the owner told us yes and we were waiting in another table. We waited politely and after a while, he came over to ask us what we wanted to order without mentioning the location he had promised us earlier.

When I mentioned that he could please move us to a table, he abruptly took the menu from my boyfriend's hand and came over to me and stared at me defiantly for several seconds that felt like hours. We were so intimidated and surprised that we stayed to eat there (we should have left, honestly).

However, this gives me the opportunity to comment on the food as well. An absolute fraud, we ordered a meager and expensive salad and a very tough grilled octopus. We have been on the island for 10 days and have eaten in more than 10 different restaurants and this is the only one where we have had a terrible experience.
