I'm writing this post to save anyone from potentially making the mistake of considering this company as a catering company for their wedding.

My fiancee and I planned to be married in September in Santorini we had searched for options for a catering company as our venue only provided a very limited menu and recommended that we hire a catering company. We didn't find many options and decided to use Mario's as they had popped up in our google search.

As COVID-19 had begun to stricken the world we began to grow concerned that we may not be able to have our dream wedding after all. My Fiancee and I thought we better reach out to our catering company as we hadn't spoken to them since we payed our deposit.

I wrote them an email simply asking what thier policy would be if we weren't able to travel to Santorini because of the pandemic the world is currently experiencing. I was informed that we should consider moving our date as they would not refund our $700 deposit. Now under normal circumstances if we were to cancel our wedding I would understand that we would forfeit our deposit but when we may not physically be able to travel for the fact that our government may still have travel restrictions on international travel you would think that a company would completely understand the situation and immediately offer us some sort of compensation if not return all of our deposit. Unfortunately this company doesn't operate under those kind of moral ethics. The only option they had provided was that we move our date which would have to be the next year 2021.

We obviously were very disappointed with this response as it's not that simple to just move your wedding date to another year when we had already been planning this wedding for over a year and it was extremely difficult finding accommodations and a venue for the date that we had desired.

We continued to have correspondence with them in hopes that they would have empathy for our situation. It became resoundingly clear that they were more concerned about lining their pockets with our hard earned money than showing any type of customer service or class in a truly unfortunate situation.

I don't typically write reviews but when I see injustices in our world and do not wish this experience on anyone else, I'm compelled to make a stance. If this review prevents even one couple from making the mistake from using such a classless and ignorant company then I feel we have made...

An Unforgettable Dining Experience at Mario Restaurant!

My wife and I had the most incredible meal at Mario Restaurant on June 9th, 2024, and it truly exceeded all expectations. We were recommended this gem by our hotel concierge, and from the moment we walked in, we knew it was special.

Greeted by genuinely pleasant staff and immediately captivated by a stunning display of fresh fish, we were then seated right on the beach with an absolutely breathtaking view of the water. As we soaked in the ambiance, our waiter approached, and what followed was an masterclass in personalized service.

He didn't just take our order; he engaged with us, learning our preferences, sharing insights about the restaurant, and then, with a heartfelt plea, asked if we trusted him to curate our meal. We confidently said yes, and we are so glad we did!

He brought us exquisite appetizers, perfectly paired wine, and explained each dish with passion. The main course was a highlight: fresh lobster and pasta, expertly finished at our table. My fish and my wife's chicken were also prepared tableside with incredible attention to detail – my fish was even deboned right there! Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and truly amazing. For dessert, we enjoyed a delightful chocolate mousse/ice cream creation with fresh fruit – a perfect end to a perfect meal.

This wasn't just a meal; it was an experience. The food, the stunning venue, and the impeccable, attentive service from start to finish made this one of the best dining experiences we've had in a very long time. The attention to detail was unparalleled.

Highly, highly recommend Mario Restaurant for anyone seeking an extraordinary culinary journey!

Earlier this week some fellow travelers recommended my husband and I have dinner at Mario Restaurant while in Santorini. Since our sunset cruise canceled due to windy weather, we decided to check out this place. It's on the opposite side of the island from where we were staying in Fira, so we grabbed a taxi and for €25 we were there in about 15 minutes. What an amazing dinner! We were promptly greeted and seated. The restaurant is on the water and we had an incredible view. Iannis was our waiter and took excellent care of us. When I deferred to him to choose a red wine for me, he first wanted to find out what we would be eating so he could make a perfect pairing for me. That ultimately led to an incredible meal with a lobster appetizer, fresh fish & the best bottle of Syrah. The timing of courses was spaced just the way we wanted them. The food was excellently prepared & delicious. We enjoyed the atmosphere (full disclosure...Iannis & I are now even Facebook friends!). I would highly recommend Mario Restaurant if you are staying on Santorini and looking for a great dinner option as a couple or for your family (they were taking care of a large group with at least 20 people while we were there). We visited in April & did not need reservations, but I imagine they will start filling up once high season kicks...
