After spending our day at the beach, me and my friends decided to go at Theros for a drink.
After checking the menu, we found it enough attractive to order some food too and to stay for the sunset!! As I was not so hungry I wanted to order an omelette.. My friends ordered 3 main dishes and a couple of drinks and beverages.
I got so disappointed when I asked from the waiter to add potato and mushrooms in my omelette letting him know that any extra charge of course would be OK!! His answer was “it’s imposible to add anything inside, as we had to follow the menu the way it was and only we can remove ingredients”. The omelette on the menu was really basic and is a classic & easily customized dish so I thought it wouldn’t be a problem. Potatoes and mushrooms were on the menu and their suggestion was to buy them separately as a course and add them my self which I kindly declined since I wasn’t there to cook my own meal but wanted to enjoy some peaceful time with my friends watching the sunset.
After that I asked him to double check it with the manager if it’s posible, otherwise I can’t have the omelette on the menu and I’m not going to have lunch at all. He said is the chef’s and manager’s policy and he can’t do anything. So he just ignored the fact that I’m not going to order anything when all the rest of my friends were having lunch.
After my friends finished their food, we decided to continue for more drinks in a different place since we were put off from the whole experience. When we asked for the bill, the manager “ Evgenia ” she came over and asked us “if there was any problem”: I found it amusing that she asked since she knew all the situation before hand, as it was easy to see the waiter talking with her since the place had only one busy table and all the rest was empty.
So what we did!? We explained to her the situation why we are leaving and why I didn’t order my lunch and it was a very sad situation having my three friends having a lunch and the manager didn’t come before to talk with me and maybe make an “exception “ since the place was practically empty and they already had all the ingredients on the menu.
She never apologized about the situation, actually she did the opposite.. telling us this is a business it’s thats the way it works and people have to follow the rules because if every customer wants to add let’s say a salmon in the omelette it’s not the way how it works and are not going to do that ..because the policy of the business it’s like that ..
My answer was : Evgenia I feel so sorry about the whole situation.. I didn’t ask to talk with any manager before it was just very weird talking about an omelette that I wanted to add mushrooms and potatoes and it was not possible,I know that we can’t please every customer but for such a simple thing you chose to let a customer be unhappy and without lunch and to be honest I don’t see a problem if someone wants to add a salmon or whatever thing is on the menu and wants to pay extra why not to happen? I let her know that I will write a review about the incident which she replied do as you feel and she left our table. I’m really disappointed as a Greek person that lives most of his life abroad and visits his birthplace every summer to see that not many things change in hospitality and the service quality is below average but most of all the attitude of “that’s the case and if you like it” makes me frustrated because feels that we are considered just a “Wallet” and that we can’t have any kind of expectations but we should just accept everything as it is. That part is just sad for the Greek touristic industry. Healthy and successful touristic businesses are kept with happy customers and good reviews but more importantly with nice...
Read moreI visited Theros Wave Bar at midday to order two takeaway coffees and two small bottles of water. To my surprise, the total came to €18, which I found extremely overpriced. When I asked to speak with the manager to better understand the pricing, she responded in a rude and dismissive manner. She claimed the coffee was “premium” and added that if I didn’t want it, I was free to leave it. When I questioned why the price was so high, her only explanation was: “Because it’s made by people.” She showed no concern whatsoever about my feedback. I’ve worked on the island of Santorini for the past five years, and I have never experienced such blatant overpricing or unprofessional customer service. The manager also stated that takeaway service isn't typically offered, despite having disposable cups, and made it clear that they were doing us a “favor” by preparing our order. In my opinion, the coffee was average at best — certainly not worth the price or the attitude that came with it. I do not recommend this establishment, whether you're a tourist or a local worker. There are plenty of other places on the island that offer far better...
Read moreCame in today for lunch and a cocktail, and was not disappointed! Much love to the chef and mixologist here- the dishes and drinks are very thoughtful. I honestly had the thought that they could get away with pricing everything maybe 20% higher for the quality. The atmosphere is very relaxing, it felt like a hidden treasure, although we came at an odd time (1:30PM). I’m sure it gets plenty busy during peak hours, so I highly recommend coming at this time to avoid the crowd.
My only qualm was with management. There was only one server taking care of all bar tables, and there were seven other tables, so understandably service was quite slow as he had his hands full. I saw the manager several times observing, but doing nothing to help- not running drinks, food, or speaking with guests. He clearly had no control of the floor, and didn’t seem bothered or maybe didn’t even notice that he was understaffed? Seemed odd.
Nevertheless, we may be back tomorrow for an early dinner to try some entrees- their sous vide offerings sound very tempting, and there’s several other drinks I’d...
