Don't know if we managed to catch them on a bad day - I was recommended this taverna and my dad suggested to eat their fresh beans "fasolia". Unfortunately, my experience was not good. Customer service was slow and the place was empty other than another couple. A lot of food was scribbled off the menu list due to availability including the beans but still managed to order a few dishes. Waiter came back to inform us they could not dish up a plate that we selected from the limited menu... And when we received the goat dish in red sauce it was not even in a red sauce. I was waiting patiently to ask the waiter if the dish was correct but there was no staff to be seen for at least 10minutes. I got up and walked towards the kitchen and the waiter came to our table. I asked about the dish and his response was I do not know and went to ask the chef. Chef came and said it is white sauce but is essentially the same dish. I told them I ordered the red sauce and they took it away. Had more issues with food delays... There was more attentiveness from the wasps and a "friendly" oriental hornet that was eating the left over food. (That was the final straw and we got up to leave) Chef shouted at a staff member for not lighting up something to keep the wasps away (even though I asked that same staff member whether it was safe to sit outside with so many flying around- response was to stay calm and do not annoy them) I told them I was recommended the taverna and to eat the beans... And chef told me they had beans and maybe the waiter did not...
Read moreWe made a special trip to this taverna , the staff were unsure whether they were open when we asked, although there were locals sitting there eating and drinking beer, we had the feeling we weren't wanted, the Food was average and greasy, we ordered several dishes which included the "smoked pork pie" which looked nice when it was brought to the table, however, there wasn't a hint of pork anywhere as the pies were literally filled with boiled spinach and was restless. Sadly I have to say , after spending 10 days travelling all around Crete visiting places of interest, this place was among the bottom 2 . We will not be returning when we visit...
Read moreThe boiled goat sure doesn't sound like something tasty but it was simply amazing. As were their specialty green beans. Also, their homemade bread was a positive surprise for Greece. The lamb chops were also fantastic as were the fried zucchini flowers filled with cheese and the baked cheese dish - possibly because they make their own cheese and honey. The restaurant is very big with two floors and right next to a stream in a very quaint location. We were a large group but food came fast. We didn't finish all our food and had some takeaway. They don't serve anything from the sea but focus on meat. We would happily eat...
