Tucked away in Avia where time seems to slow down, we stumbled upon a tiny souvlaki spot that quickly became the highlight of our trip. The restaurant itself is modest—just a handful of tables, a simple grill, and the warm scent of grilled meat wafting through the air. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for tenfold in heart, hospitality, and unforgettable food.
We first visited for dinner after a long day of driving from Olympia, craving something simple and satisfying. The moment we walked in, we were welcomed like old friends by the owners—a husband and wife duo who run the place with obvious pride and joy. Their warmth was immediate and genuine. Though the menu was small, they made it clear: “We’ll make whatever you like. Just tell us!” And they meant it.
The souvlaki was grilled to perfection— crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, with just the right touch of lemon and herbs. The pita was warm, soft, and slightly charred, and the homemade tzatziki was the best we had anywhere in Greece. The grilled vegetables with balsamic glaze was off the charts.
We loved it so much, we came back the next morning for breakfast—not something we’d usually do at a souvlaki place, but the owners encouraged it. When we arrived, they greeted us with coffee and a wonderful breakfast.
In a world of impersonal dining and cookie-cutter menus, this little souvlaki shop reminded us what hospitality really means. Great food, kind people, and a sincere effort to make every customer feel like family. If you ever find yourself in Avia and spot a small grill with a big heart—don’t walk by. Stop in, stay a while, and let them feed you like one...
Read moreOK... so I spent a month in a lovely place within 300m of this amazing place. Let me tell you... you will not be disappointed. These guy's are legit! They make incredible food and provide for you great service on the day/night you are there. What I mean by this is that if you turn up and there is something you want on the menu which is not available, it's because it's not fresh... they only deal in fresh :) Everything we sampled from this awesome place was fresh and satisfying... made us feel like we were sharing a meal with them that they would eat themselves. The owners are accomodating to a tee, and love to make you have a great experience in their business. They make you feel welcome from the first visit, but it's on subsequent visits that you feel how genuine their welcome is... they really do appreciate your custom. After a month of coming for a feed, a relax, and retreating to a place of comfort and genuinely great food I have no reservation giving 5 stars. I wish they were not so far away from my home so I could spend more time there, and support the business more....
Read moreI have been multiple times and it is certainly not a place that server good souvlaki. The most recent time I ordered half of my pita bread was soggy and all the gyro in it was burnt, the time the food usually takes to come out is unreasonably long and according to what they have replied to low ratings, which is very rude and very unprofessional when you cant take any criticism, I already know that they will reply with something along the lines of "our souvlaki shop is the best and you are just a hater" so I'm leaving this not for the owners or the shop but for the customers, they should know what they have...
