Dissapointing and sketchy.
Been to this place several times across the years since you arent given that many other choices around Potami area unfortunately.
Place doesnt have any hippy-like character anymore.
Paid full price (7? 7,5 euro) for a virgin mojito (no it wasnt a misunderstanding, the barman made it on spot, it was the only drink i asked him for and paid at once.
An already opened water bottle. This has happened more than twice. I am not a 12year old, and i ve been working at restaurants for like 10years. You either open it on the spot for the customer if you want to be fancy, or since its a "hippys" place, the customer can actually do it for themselves. Jug of water (and generally some small extra attention from the waiters) is a huge rarity at this place so you ll have to pay for sth that is most likely tap water filled in a fancy bottle.
Havent tried the restaurant but its at a cosy location so customers in July/August will keep coming for the average quality just due to the lack for...
Read moreI’ve been going to Hippy’s since the late 90s and worked there in the 2000s. Back then, Hippy’s was the best beach bar in Samos and people came from all over the island for the amazing atmosphere, friendly staff, great music until sunset, and unforgettable parties.
Sadly, under new ownership, all of that is gone. It breaks my heart to write this but Hippy’s today has lost the soul that made it so special. The service is horrendous, Wi-Fi never works, the music is inconsistent. What was once the heartbeat of Karlovasi has become just another lifeless beach bar. The founder would be turning in his grave.
Advice for the new owners is train the staff, fix the basics and bring back the atmosphere with sunset music sets and occasional beach parties. Remember that Hippy’s was built on more than sunbeds and drinks, it was about community,...
Read moreI went to Hippy's the third of July, it was quite busy that day (it was a weekend). But I had no trouble to find an umbrella for some shade.
I really liked their coffee and the staff was very friendly. It is a nice beach.
I orderded a ciabatta chicken sandwich and waited an hour and 15 minutes for it to be served. My guess is that it was their first very busy day of the season and because of that some things went wrong.
They did apologize multiple times that it took so long and thankfully, the sandwich tasted really good, so don't let this experience stop you from going there, it is...
