5 Stars for food and 5 Stars for atmosphere but 1 star for service... Great place, good food but the service was unacceptable. This place has the potential for a 5 star if they just improve the service. The waitstaff was friendly but they couldn't keep up, the service was very slow and most of it has to do with the lack of training and organization. As an ex restaurant manger I can see some of the issues they are having. -Hire more seasonal waitstaff during busy periods. 2 or 3 waiters can't serve the whole restaurant when it's busy. -Have properly trained waitstaff, don't expect kids working for minimum wage to give you their full effort. -Have a floor host/hostess keep an eye on the tables. Welcome people in, sit them and bring them menus at the same time. Have a person in the kitchen managing the delegation and delivery of food and beverage to the tables. This includes managing the orders in the kitchen with the cooks and the dispatching of orders from the kitchen. -Have a busboy cleaning the tables instead of the waitstaff to speed up the process to speed up service and turn tables faster. Waitstaff should only be concentrating on taking orders and serving. Not sitting people, not bringing menus and not cleaning tables.. -The waitstaff can't multitask and seem overwhelmed when it's busy because they are expected to do everything. Organization and support from the host/hostess, busboys and management could help fix this. And when I say support from management I don't mean discipline and attitude, I mean actual physical help serving tables and constructive criticism. All these issues seem to be the same in most the restaurants in Chios and Oinousses. I will definitely go back there again the next time I will be in Oinousses, it's a great place in great location. The food was good and the prices were fare but the service needs improvement. Hopefully next time I can give them a 5 star 🙏🏽 For any manager reading this, please remember that Chios and Oinousses are not like Mykonos and Santorini that don't care about service because they are tourist traps and will never see those customers again therefore they don't care about customer service. Chios and Oinousses has loyal tourists that return almost every year. It's a different clientele in Chios and Oinousses. Focus on improving service and people will remember your place and come back, as well as refer other people to eat there. Please do not take this review as an insult, you have a great place with huge potential, just needs some improvements in service. I will be back because I want to give you a 5 star review...
Read moreThis was our second time coming for dinner to Glaros and we were again happy with our choice.
As in last autumn, this time of the year it was not busy on the island at all (yet) and Glaros had only few guests, so not all items on the menu were available. It was still no problem to find plenty of options for a great meal. We particularly liked the grilled mastelo with tomato jam (must try!), the stuffed and fried zucchini flowers and the shrimp pasta which came with a very flavourful sauce. The menu in general was full of dishes that sounded very appetizing so we can come back many times to try them all ;) The prices are very reasonable!
On that evening one young man ran the whole place, kitchen and service, and he did a marvelous job while being exceptionally friendly.
And not to mention this place has the best location in the village with a great view. Absolutely...
Read moreI went with very high expectations but unfortunately disappointed. Good location, very high potential but very slow and bad service. For the first time in Greece they served me a burnt octopus. Even though I said the waiter that it was burnt, he tried to convince me that this is the way they serve it 🙄. Forget to bring the items that we ordered, asked three times for a beer. Overcooked pasta. Boiled mussels was OK. Even grilled mastelo was not good. The island is a very unique place, not too many options to eat. Do not...
