Last year, in June, we stayed 50 meters from Apomero and had dinner more than three times. Everything was fine, let’s say almost perfect, including the staff. Not small prices, but satisfied. The experience was unpleasant - on a Tuesday (end of August) evening, and not a rush hour. We couldn’t eat, and we can’t evaluate that again, but what changed? 1. More tables, but less space between them. 2. tables of more than 8 persons, a few tables for 2-4 people, 3. More than 2/3 of tables are reserved (now there are many more tables than last year); 4. From the beginning, a very unfriendly service - if you have a reservation, you are not welcome. This was the message 5. The low quality of the staff was confirmed 10 minutes after waiting for someone to come to us with a bottle of water or something else or with the baby chair for our baby (as always last year). This is very unusual for Greece and for a restaurant to be almost empty at that hour. 6. Dear owner, the most important clients (and those who will pay more every time, including tips) are those who come back (even foreigners), not those who choose you because they have seen a commercial on a bus station. The only plus was that after we had a (fine) dinner in another place, we returned to the area, and it wasn’t crowded 🙂Yes, a very...
Read moreI’ve traveled to Greece many times and always enjoyed the food, but this was the most disappointing experience I’ve had. The Greek salad was below average – the cheese did not taste like authentic feta. What surprised us most were the prices: sea bream was charged at 80 EUR/kg, which is far above the typical market rate of 15-20 EUR/kg for fresh and WILD fish in similar restaurants. Shrimps were also priced at 80 EUR/kg, despite being very basic. Their excuse is high quality, which neglects that we visited way more premium restaurants and still didn't pay that much for fresh and WILD.
Our bill was the highest we've had in Greece, yet we ate the least and were least satisfied. We had made a reservation expecting a good table by the sea, but were told on arrival that it was not available without a clear reason. Service was impersonal, and the overall atmosphere felt off.
After our visit, I read other reviews and realized several guests had similar experiences – especially regarding pricing and unfulfilled reservations. I would advise future guests to double-check prices before ordering and read...
Read moreIf you visit for the view stick to simple easy to cook dishes like fried small fish and or sardine, don't bother with fried squid or risotto or fried shrimp, more details bellow.
Seafood was nice last year (2020) this year they changed the menu and removed items, they changed the way they prepare their dishes, and overall quality is way down. I visited the restaurant 2 times in 5 days. First time I tried risotto with seafood that had a lot of salt was very greasy and with a lot of Curcuma powder spice. I also tried the steamed muscles that where sandy and had not much meat (like they where on a diet). Thrapsala that's small fired calamari where poorly fried. Zucchini that is cut like fried potatoes is not as crunchy as one would expect to eat in a restaurant and for me this is a disappointing factor.
If and when I ever visit again i will go only for the nice location and or views. In my opinion there should be a change in...
