Appalling Experience for Families with Children
I am utterly disappointed and disgusted by my recent visit to this beach bar-restaurant. As a parent looking forward to a relaxing day by the water with my friends and our children, our experience was totally unpleasant. The establishment's hostile and discriminatory behavior towards families with young kids was not only offensive but downright unacceptable.
From the moment we stepped foot on the premises, the staff's attitude towards us was unwelcoming. Instead of the warm and friendly atmosphere one would expect at a beachside establishment, we were met with glares and condescending remarks. It was evident that they had an issue with families and children, as if they believed that anyone under a certain age bracket was not worthy of being their patrons.
The climax of our negative experience came when we were told that we weren't allowed to have "all that junk" around, referring to our bags containing beach side toys and, I assume, to a baby stroller one of the families had. The staff's reference to the fact that other patrons typically spend 300-400 euros per group, implying that we weren't that "rich" (?), added insult to injury but really made us laugh! Thanks a lot for that!
The overall experience was ridiculous, embarrassing and hurtful at the same time. It's disheartening to think that in this day and age, such blatant discrimination still exists.
I strongly advise anyone with children to steer clear of this establishment unless you're willing to subject your family to disdainful treatment and insensitivity. Our experience here was a stark reminder that no matter how picturesque a location might be, it's the people and their attitudes that truly shape the experience. This establishment has a long way to go in terms of improving their customer service and treating all patrons with the respect they deserve.
ADDITION AFTER THE ESTABLISHMENT'S RESPONSE: The details described by the establishment's representative are totally irrelevant to our case, as we never discussed the prices of sunbeds, nor had we brought our own food. You probably confused us with some other example of unhappy customers (seems you have lots of those!). In any case, from the style of your responses to all non-positive reviews, I guess everyone can see how respectful you are to...
Read moreHave to agree with others that this beach is best all rounder from the 5 other popular beaches we tried. Water is amazing. Super clear. There aren’t slimy pebbles at wading depth which a great when kids are easily freaked out. The yellow floating wall is there to stop rubbish floating into bay which is great to see. There is a little make shift jetty on one end for the beach great for jumping off into the beautiful water. Sun beds are large and comfortable and well distanced from other beds. Good variety of items on menu. Food of a decent standard. Sand is a good mix of pebbles and sand, making it easy to walk on unlike pebble beaches, and not the type of sand to stick to everything. Service is good. Grassy areas are nice for a change from the sand. Music is definitely to loud at the bar, but just pick a spot far away if it bothers you. I’m not 21 anymore, just not my thing. But if i was 21 again the music is to vanilla. My dad is nearly 70 and he liked the tracks. So playing 80s top hits at night club levels is a bit lame in the middle of the day. Ahahah. Thats just my opinion tho. Where is the house music? Dj looked like he partied in the 80s so thats prob why. Toilets are clean and of higher standard. Plenty of parking. Well maintained grounds. Also they have Starlink for internet but its heavy restricted for some reason(should be super quick, i have Starlink) and also has a poor connection with moments with not data transmission for periods of time. So just annoying. And my cosmote wifi dongle i carry around had no connection on the beach which sucked as it worked well every else we had been. But that has nothing to do...
Read moreWe love Skopelos for being unpretentious. That doesn't mean there aren't any super cool places. But those that are, are just not exclusive. Everyone is welcome. Glysteri Beach Bar is one of those places.
It perhaps isn't the most beautiful of the beaches on Skopelos although it is set in a charming bay. But it might be the most expensive, although like everywhere in Skopelos, it's certainly not a rip off.
All the beaches with facilities charge for umbrella & sunbed sets OR have a minimum purchase for food and drinks. Here they have both! 15 euro for 2 beds plus 45euro minimum. But if you'd staying for lunch, it's easy to spend this much. And the facilities are the best of all the beaches we went to. The biggest and comfiest sunbeds plus an extra deckchair to make moving in and out of the shade easier. Showers and changing cabins with doors that actually lock. Really great toilets (Strangely without locks 😂)
The beach bar is very stylish and the music selection great. Food was delicious and service amazing (special shout out to Stelios). Odd selection of beers.
We'll...
