Mouria Fish Tavern Agnontas — Restaurant in Skopelos Municipality

By far our most expensive and worst mistake in Greece in the 12 years that we have travelled here. The food is okay, but the the service was unconscionably bad and I feel entirely taken advantage of. We will be discussing the 170€ payment (for 2 adults & 2 children under 10 years) with our debit card provider.

Staff brought 23€ of items to our table that we either did not order at all or did not understand that we would be charged extra for (water & dry bread before we even had menus, plus chips & a salad that were offered as an ‘either/or’ option that came included with fish dishes.)

Mine & my daughter’s food (not fish) arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. My husband and son’s food (fish charged by the kilo) took almost an hour to arrive, long after my daughter and I had finished. Despite this delay, the weight (and therefore price) of the fish was never confirmed with us beforehand, despite us selecting one small fish from the counter and asking them to tell us what seabream they had. Of course, the biggest fish that we have ever seen eventually came out without warning and at a charge of 97.50€. Together with the huge portions of chips & salad added by the waiter, these two fish dishes came to 116.30€ for just one adult and one 9 year old boy.

We told our waiter that this was too much food when it was brought out, so he insisted on bringing an additional plate for me, despite my refusal (I don’t eat fish and was already full from my meal served 50 minutes before.) So much food went to waste.

Even worse, we were pressured to add a 15€ tip to the card payment (my husband was pressed for payment whilst alone and with a receipt in Greek that he didn’t understand, since I was taking our children to the toilet.)

Utterly unconscionable. Never have I experienced such greed on this...

Guess they didn’t want to make money. We never tried the food because it took about 5 minutes just to get the menu, which would still be okay. But then no one ever came to take our order. Our menus were closed, we visibly signaled the staff that we are ready. Nothing. There were at least 4 waiters if not more and not one showed any kind of reaction. For 15 minutes no one came yet they served and accommodated people who came AFTER(!) us?? The rest of the time they were busy checking their phones, or discussing whatever they felt was more important than serving guests who were willing to spend at least 50€ minimum!

Absolutely unprofessional behavior so after 15 minutes of nothing we got up, paid for our water and left. I did tell the waiter what I’m telling here, of course he began to apologize, might have even been sincere but I told him we signaled them and him at least 2 times and that it’s simply not acceptable. This is not a way to run a business. Hospitality = 0. Guessing they’re tired after the tourist season which is not remotely an excuse!

Otherwise the location is nice, it’s right on the beach with great views so if you’re lucky and get the right staff shift you might actually have a great time. We unfortunately...

Cannot recommend, waiters are completely lost besides the girls actually but the are more the kind of runners but should actually be the main waiters in regard of their awareness. Food quality is good the Tzatziki is worth mentioning and the fact that you can actually choose the fish you want to eat from a vitrine. However on of us (two) got his fish only 20min after we asked for it and already waited for half an hour and the rest of the food was already served! So basically they forgot abd then fish was more expensive because suddenly it weighed 100grams more than what we were told when it was weighed in front of us after we chose it. But the price is the most critical point in this review anyways the prices for the fresh fish are ridiculous!! Sea bream 82€ the kilo. That is just crazy we ate fresh fish on the island from the same day which cost have the price and was served with the other main dishes and of equal if not even better quality. There is another restaurant down the street which looks more fancy, we haven't been there but if you have to choose one place like we had to, go for this one, it can't have a worse over all price quality...
