Meltemi Tavern — Restaurant in Thassos Municipality

We visited Meltemi restaurant and were extremely disappointed. The waiters had no manners or sense of hospitality. We ordered mushrooms with spinach and garlic, stuffed squid with cheese in red sauce, a Greek salad, and mussel risotto. What we actually received was: • Two mushrooms stuffed with spinach and melted cheese on top (instead of the sautéed mushrooms with garlic described on the menu). • A plate with some red sauce at the bottom, a boiled squid thrown on top, and inside the squid were cold pieces of tomato and two small chunks of cheese – definitely not what we expected. • A tasteless, mushy mussel risotto with no seasoning at all. • A Greek salad with huge pieces of tomato, all still with their stems attached, making it obvious that no care was taken when cutting them. When I complained to the waiter about the squid, he just stared at me blankly and replied with a disapproving “ooook,” as if I was bothering him. However, at the end he did come back and apologise for the squid, but overall the lack of professionalism and politeness ruined our experience. Throughout our visit, the staff were just laughing among themselves instead of paying attention to the customers. Honestly, I am surprised by all the positive reviews this place has. Maybe we were just unlucky and everything went wrong for us that day, but I would not recommend it if you expect decent food and respectful service. So i m giving 2 stars because when I ate a gyros pork the tomatoes had a strange taste of fish , i did not bother the staff because the rest of the food was ok but I almost threw up because of it. Anyway this is not as bad as the fact that when you are finish they are practically obligating you to leave a 5 stars review, not like they are giving you a qr code to scan and write whatever your opinion is, no, they are standing behind you to see that you posted the good review and that you didn t write anything bad that could affect their business. It s actually stressful because you are felling bad to say no when they are practically coming at you and insisting. I m not saying they are doing a bad job but I would just give the customers the option to say whatever they want and give them the privacy to post anything they want. With enough space without making them feeling obligated to just put 5 stars and done. It s not right. Many of you that are reading the message , I m not saying to not go there but it s not so great as you see on the other reviews, clearly not a 4 stars restaurant. Wir waren hier im Juli mit Freunden, also zwei Familien und hatten für 8 Tage gebucht. Leider ist uns etwas unvorhersehbares passiert und wir durften nur einen Tag bleiben.

An sich sind die Lage und das Hotel gut ausgestattet aber nicht überragend, einiges ist abgenutzt, was nicht der 5-Sterne Kategorie entspricht. Außerdem ist nicht angemessen, dass man für fast alles extra bezahlen muss (z.B. Liegestühle am Pool 20 €, die Wasserrutschen etc). Normalerweise kennen wir das von fünf Sterne, dass es bereits in den Preis berechnet ist.

Der Strand ist Kieselstrand also braucht man Schuhe. Es ist nicht so gut geeignet für Kinder oder nicht gute Schwimmer, weil es nach einem Meter ziemlich tief wird. Es gibt auch Felsen und die Hälfte der Liegen waren ohne Liegebezug.

Das Hotel ist etwas abseits von der Stadt und man braucht ein Auto sonst sind sie in dem Gelände isoliert.

Wir haben eingecheckt und waren zum Mittagessen in der Hoteleigene Taverna mit neun Personen. Das war nichts besonders aber die Wartezeit war ziemlich lang, obwohl es fast leer war und das Personal war etwas unfreundlich. Am Abend wollten wir die Taverna nebenan ausprobieren und statt einen Umweg zu nehmen, sind wir durch das Gelände des Hotels gelaufen. Dabei hat uns der Hotelbesitzer gesehen und er hat uns schreiend erklärt, dass wir bei ihm essen müssen und unser Geld bei ihm ausgeben sollen und nicht woanders (insbesondere nebenan), weil das sich so nicht gehört, wenn wir bei ihm schon übernachten. Das hat mein Mann ziemlich lustig gefunden und hat sich kaputt gelacht und das hat ihn noch mehr affektiert und irritiert. Dann hat er noch gedroht, dass wir sonst, wenn wir wirklich jetzt beim Nachbar taverna essen gehen, aus dem Hotel rausfliegen werden. Natürlich hat uns das nicht aufgehalten aber am Ende ist es genauso passiert. Am nächsten Tag mussten wir nun die Koffer packen und standen mit Kindern vor der Tür aber gut nach 2000 km Flug in unseren wohlverdienten Urlaubstagen haben wir damit nicht gerechnet. Glücklicherweise hat uns der Local Touristik Guide Herr Ovidio gut unterstützt, eine neue Unterkunft zu finden.

Aber letztendlich hatten wir eine schöne Zeit und haben gesehen, dass es auf der anderen Seite der Insel auch normale Leute gibt.

Lieber wechsele ich den Ort anstatt acht Tage gefangen bei Ihnen zu sein!!
