We were super excited to go to Fanarakia due to the many good reviews and a Reddit recommendation. Not sure if the overall experience has deteriorated over the years, but our dinner turned out to be quite disappointing. The service was the biggest disappointment. Our waiter spilled one of the wine glasses over the table, my friend’s plate & chair, and never even apologized for it or offered to clean anything (he just wiped most of the wine off the table). We moved to a different table (as the music next to ours was too loud) and they didn’t bring a new plate for one of the people, even though the one she had had wine all over it. They forgot our drinks couple of times and in one of the cases it took 3 reminders to get it. The staff was also not attentive at all - they were chatting among themselves and not paying attention, even when raising a hand and looking at them for prolonged time. At the end of the dinner they didn’t give us the receipt and just told us to go pay inside as we wanted to pay with card. The guy at the cashier’s desk was surprised we didn’t get a receipt , so I guess communication is not their forte. There’s more, but that should give you an idea of the service situation. On the food and drinks - not great not horrible. Definitely somewhere on the bottom of the list of restaurants I have visited in Greece. Don’t go for seafood and definitely don’t go for the draft wine glasses. You could just smell the headache you will get the next day. There are some really nice places very close to Fanarakia with far better service and delicious food, so do yourself a favor and...
Read moreToday, 8th of July at midday, I visited this restaurant in the heart of Xanthi. I trusted the reviews that I saw about the quality of this restaurant. But to be honest, it didn’t fill up my expectations. In fact the food was quite good and quite budget. But the image of the people working there was something i have never seen before. Especially, the guy that served our dishes ( he had some symbol tattoos in his arm ) was not dressed properly ( in my opinion ) he was wearing athletic track suit, which is something I believe doesn’t match with the image of the restaurant. Besides that, i have noticed that he was spending a lot of time with his phone and didn’t pay attention to the customers. In conclusion, I think the restaurant is a good choice if you want a budget solution and also try the traditional cuisine but they have to take it more serious as far as it concerns...
Read moreThe place has changed from the past in a great way. They have turned from traditional tavern to modern Greek cuisine and they do it right. The portions were more than enough and the taste great. We had no reservation and were lucky to find a table as we got to the place quite early. The only negative point was the extended delay of kritharoto we ordered, which arrived with a 20' delay from the other main course, so my partner had to wait and wait too long. In the other hand, it was delicious though. It worth a visit if you are in the city. The prices are fair for the quality of the food. We paid 38€ for two main courses, a salad and two side dishes,...
