Dovas Home Cooking in Chorefto, Greece, was an unforgettable culinary journey😋 , where a lovely family welcomed me you into their kitchen (literally, the restaurant has a kitchen in which they invite you to choose the dish 😻) , and high-quality, slow-cooked food wonder your senses 🧘‍♀️.

Just stepping into this family-run restaurant, you're instantly embraced by their warmth. The husband, wife, and their charming daughters 🤩 ensure a homely, heartening dining experience that's a rarity in today's fast-paced world.

Every dish, crafted from high-quality ingredients, tells a tale of slow, patient cooking 👩‍🍳 . From the tender lamb shank, to the richly layered moussaka or the frightening octopus, each bite is delightful respect for authentic Greek cuisine.

The attentive, personalized service at Dovas (thanks Alexandra 🤩 and Christina ) was the icing on the cake. Their shared culinary tales make the meal even more adorable.

Small portions compared to their high prices, and in our case, most of the dishes weren't well cooked; some were 1-2 days old. The staff was inexperienced and rude. They keep writing that they are in the gastronomy business for so many years, yet this doesn't show in the services offered. Sorry, but I cannot recommend further. We ended up dining at "Kyma" for the rest of our stay. Compared to anything else we tried, "Kyma" was by far the best restaurant/tavern. Great food and prices.

Reacting defensively and not constructively taking criticism says a lot about the level of an establishment's professionalism. I'm not saying that the customer is always right, but getting attacked? If you find yourself in Chorefto and craving authentic Greek cuisine, I highly recommend Dovas. This charming family-run tavern offers delicious, high-quality food at very reasonable prices, perfect for families like ours with kids. One of the great things about Dovas is that you can actually see the food cooked fresh that day, which makes the experience even more special — but you can also order from the menu if you prefer, giving you the best of both worlds. The atmosphere feels just like eating at home, thanks to the incredibly warm and responsive staff who always make you feel welcome.
