I am not easily disappointed, but today's experience was really something. We arrived at 12:30 and a friendly lady welcomed the five of us. The prices were on the higher end, but she assured us the food is local and bio-quality. We ordered a bottle of white wine, sparkling water a plate of dishes to share a pizza and a seafood spaghetti. She also offered a bread and tzatziki for starters. After almost an hour, while the restaurant was empty apart from us, we have been presented with oil soaked overcooked pasta 20€, a pizza Margherita 16€, obviously from a frozen base, and a plate of cold fries, spring rolls, chicken nuggets from a tin, dry prawns and about 6 mussels, that were obviously defrost, owing to a complete lack of juiciness, sardines from a tin and some sausage.(39€)! I went to talk to the manager to express the disappointment within our group, and asked her to suggest a reasonable solution, to bring the bill and offer us a discount, for the food we barely touched and returned( as you see in the pics) . She brought us a bill for 163€, a bottle of white wine (8€ shop price), charged 49€, bread and tzatziki for 16... etc...
Her offer was a 15€ discount. Moreover, she was very defensive when we asked for a more reasonable compromise.
I recommend you avoid this place and grab a bite at any other bistro on the main road, or rather visit the café in Zakynthos Marina with great fresh fries, calamari and...
Read moreNice place , with chilled and relaxing atmosphere. However , when it came to paying the bill, I was asked to pay an extra 4€ fee because I was using a ‘foreign Visa card ’, which goes to commissions. I used a Revolut card and I explained that I have been using this card in several places in Greece and abroad, but no one ever asked me to pay a fee for using it. At the end, staff suggested that we split the €4 commission between us, which I accepted. I had visited Portofino bar in the past , using the same card , but they never asked me to pay this extra fee. I would recommend that any extra charges are clearly communicated on the menu or by waiting staff before customers place...
Read moreAwful experience. They seated us on an old bed/couch, we specifically asked if it would be okay before we sat (because it looked old and rickety) and the waitress said yes. The couch broke under our weight and the staff started arguing with us and demanded we pay them to fix it - it was an old couch that suddenly broke while we were sitting on it. This was not our fault and the waitress saw that we were sitting carefully on it. Instead of apologising about what happened they claimed it was all our fault and demanded we pay 50 euros. I’ve never been anywhere that argues with their customers over an accident that could have happened to any of...
