Taverna Alivizos-Asteria — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

The food was pretty good and the prices appropriate however the 2 star rating is for the very rude behavior of the owner. After 40 minutes we dared to ask if there was an issue with our order and why it was taking so long, considering that we ordered small fried fishes (athairina and marida) and we were told by the owner that we toke too long to order (we literally ordered within 5 minutes of sitting down) and that the food would arrive when it would arrive. If we didn't have kids with us we would have asked for the bill right then.

Edit. Polar opposite was the owner's wife that apologized for everything and complemented the kids...

A traditional Greek tavern, pretty close to Zakynthos town center nicely located next to a small port, overlooking the sea. It offers a wide variety of traditional Greek dishes at reasonable prices, including seafood. Shrimp spaghetti was delicious and large portion. We also tried spaghetti with minced meat and chef's salad and were tasty, too.

The whole setup may look a bit outdated but still brings a lot of memories in mind. The service may also be less refined compared to what you are used to. It is an interesting alternative to all the busy touristic restaurants...

The location is perfect, right on the sea. In the evening, it feels like a dream, with the gentle sound of waves on the shore and the glow of moonlight. The star of the menu is, without a doubt, the fish. We had a fantastic fish supper. The prawns saganaki were the best we've had so far! A complimentary cake was offered at the end of the meal, which was a lovely touch, but we were absolutely stuffed, so we had to decline. Reasonable price and kind...
