Lovely cafe, great for lunch, has a bar, famous for a great range of smoothies.
We popped in for a late lunch. Lovely tranquil setting in spite of being in the heart of Hillsborough, handy for the local banks, cash points, close to bus and taxis.
View from the terrace overlooks the harbour, and gorgeous yellow sandy beach.
Food was great, I had a tasty Greek salad, and my wife had fresh tuna sandwich and coleslaw.
Not expensive, slightly posher than the beach bars, but the owner, a South African lady, sailed in 20 ish years ago sold the boat and set up the business. She is lovely, lively and a font of local knowledge, including all music festivals, carnivals, best boat trips, dance and nightlife.
The three local ladies do the food and wow, tasty Carriacou twist on the menu items.
Seemed very popular with expats and experienced yacht owners, who know where this gem is, and I suspect return regularly.
Definitely a must for lunch....

Beautiful views along with fresh food and drinks make this one of my favorite local cafes to visit. One drawback, which is common to many Caribbean restaurants, is that what's on the menu isn't whats always available. The fisherman doesn't always have great catches, or the butcher may not have gotten a recent shipment of meat, so the menu tends to fluctuate. A daily menu being printed may be a bit of an extra hassle but would be helpful to new customers. They do, however, highlight today's specials on a board outside and I'd always recommend what's on the board. Whether you want to try some islands favorites or just want a 'traditional' meal (depending on where you are visiting from) you will enjoy your time at...
Read moreWe had a wonderful experience at Kayak Kafe. We visited Hillsborough on a sailing vacation and stopped in to clear immigration back into Grenada. The day we visited, July 4, was actually a holiday for the island of Carriacou and so very litte was open. We found the Kayak Kafe. Sean the owner was super welcoming. He let us charge our laptop while we ate lunch. There was free Wifi to use and the view and atmosphere was perfect Caribbean island charm. We had chicken and rice for lunch and it was delicious. It was cash only when we visited, but Sean had just recently opened and was working on getting more tech in place, so he may be able to take CC when you visit. We enjoyed a tropical fruit juice with lunch. If you visit Carriacou you should definitely drop by...
