Off D Hook Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Carriacou

Off the Hook Bar and Grill is on a perfect beach opposite Sandy Island in southern Carriacou, a short bus or taxi ride from Hillsborough. A number 10 bus from Hillsborough bus rank, cost ECD7 for two adults.

A short walk from the road, well signposted down a short road then follow the signs to the left to reach the bar, which is on the Paradise Beach front.

When we arrived, we spotted 4 other people on the beach which curves over a mile long.

Ideallic.

Curtis currently rents the place to Larry ex-US Marine (retired) and his wife - who is the main chef, along with help from locals.

Food is superb- tasty choice of various wings, I choose lemon pepper, also bay, BBQ etc. My wife had fresh fish, salads tasty, ribs, shrimp, chicken etc with plenty of napkins to mop the chin and wipe fingers.

The rum punch is lovely.

Curtis also does boat trips and has some nice rooms to rent to the rear and side of the restaurant area, which is part of the well established hamlet.

All in all a perfect spot in paradise, good service excellent food and food to die for.

Wow. I am so so happy to have come here. The first time we were here was for drinks on our first day. The owner and bartender is a phenomenal host and cocktail maker. My fiance loves the cocktail options and he really enjoyed the Rum Punch & Strawberry Daiquiri! I loved the ice-cold Stags. The owner is also very kind and listening to him tell stories was an experience in itself 😊. On our second day, we came for lunch and tried their incredible food. I had the grilled shrimp with potato salad & a green salad. DELICIOUS! my fiance had a fried white fish and it was moist inside and well-seasoned and crunchy on the outside. Super delicious. The owner of Off the Hook, Curtis, has a monopoly on a water taxi from the beach so he charges a very excessive price. I visited with 5 friends and he was late taking us on the taxi and was very late picking us up, well after dark. His attitude was such that he didn't apologize or show concern for our hospitality. When I approached him afterward with our concerns (gentle inquiry, initiating conversation), he immediately grew very accusatory, aggressive, and manipulative, to the point where I felt unsafe during the interaction. This place has a mostly good reputation and I was shocked that my 5 friends and I were treated this way by the owner himself. He may have a friendly demeanor most of the time, but toward us he acted like a smug, immature,...
