What a joke. We waited 35 minutes for a drink, so I walked to the bar and asked the barman and was served in seconds. We ordered food (a chicken dish and Tortillas), and waited almost 2 hours with no sign of our meal appearing. Other tables around us walked in and walked out again in this time, as they did not even get served drinks in over an hour. A table that had eaten left some food on their plates, and a dog jumped up on their table, to lick all of the plates clean. All this under the waiter's gaze. The final straw was three other tables, who arrived significantly after us, getting their food ahead of us. We left money for the beers under a glass and left. To top it all off, the single waiter then chased us down the road to ask us for the beer money. We told him it was on our table. Embarrassing for him. We then took a tuktuk to the top of Santa Cruz town and found a lovely traditional restaurant which was far far better. Avoid this "holy" restaurant at all costs.

We decided to venture from our hostel and try some local restaurants. Holy Tortillas caught our eye and we decided to give it a try. We walked in and the restaurant was empty but we welled up stairs where it was nice and bright and decided to pick a seat. We arrived for breakfast and decided one El Guipil and Amanecer holy. Both were delicious and plenty enough for breakfast. They also accepted credit card which was a bonus as we didn’t make it up to the atm yet. The coffee was good and the juice is made fresh.

Really great restaurant with the nicest people and delicious food. We went there for both breakfast and dinner and enjoyed both equally. They also have vegetarian lunch/ dinner options Certainly preferred it over the food offered at nearby hostels and hotels and you get more for your quetzals. They also have a nice rooftop with a great view for the sunset. Certainly recommend to have it checked out. The picture is from the omelette breakfast and the menu of the day dinner

So I was a bit hesitant to try this place based on past reviews about the taste, but something must have changed with the cook because I had absolutely wonderful meals here. Hamburgers was great (i say this as someone who has lived in america for the last 5 years), and their daily special pollo a la plancha was probably the best grilled chicken I had so far in guatemala. Price was a little on the high side, but at the base of Santa Cruz theres not much choice and the options I chose were affordable (50-60Q). Go up to the terrace (its not obvious...

I asked for the servers opinion on what to order. He didn't give me any recommendations. I ordered the vegetarian rice, beans cooked in coconut milk. It was so bland that I could not taste any garlic or onions that was supposed to be cooked with it. I had to keep adding salt, pepper and chilli sauce just so I could taste some flavour. Was so disappointed. Paid QTL 63 for food with drink. They wanted me to pay service, I refused. It's a shame. They seemed nice when I went in the day before to checkout the menu and with a...
