I highly recommend this restaurant. Service is slow, but that is the case with all eating places here. However, the young lady who served our table spoke good English even though she describes her knowledge as "a little". Surely she undersells herself.

This is the best meal I've had after 7 days in Guatemala.

We had the grilled whole fish, not overdone, flesh moist. The strawberry banana smoothie was good. We requested for a plate of local fruit, which is not on the menu. That was a Q35 cost.

The tortilla served is made with purple corn, very tasty. For a country with so much tortilla eating, it's surprising how much lousy-tasting tortillas there is out there.

We decided for a laugh to try their chow mien. No wok hei to speak of, and way too, too, too salty, but chock full of ingredients. It will be decent if the salt is cut back by a lot and okay if you really miss Chinese food. Of course there are no leafy greens, but peppers add some good sweet flavour.

As we left, another customer was eating pizza and it was large, but I don't know...

Pleasantly surprised 🤓

The steak burrito was very good. It’s more of a Guatemalan style burrito- but really tasty ✨

I’ve also had the Pepían with chicken- and Pulique with chicken - They are the best I’ve ever had in Guatemala. 🌟 If you’re looking for authentic Guatemalan dishes I highly recommend you try them 😋

I also like the chicken fried rice - they add a lot of vegetables and it’s delicious.

The hibiscus (cold) tea was excellent 🌺 If you like hibiscus tea- get it here ✨

The lady who runs the restaurant is really nice. It’s not a fancy place- but they more than make up for it with their kind service and delicious food.

I heard they also deliver around Santa Cruz via tuktuk.. ask them...

One of my favorite places to chow while in Guatemala especially Santa Cruz.

This place was very accommodating to our group and they cook authentically with love.

We were the last patrons in and out. Many places close early in Santa Cruz but Nimajay stays open the latest.

I am very grateful for their hospitality as it was one of my best meals. My wife and I enjoyed the grilled fish and chow mein. The chow mein was filled to the brim with meat. The fish was very flavorful and fresh.

Pro tip: If at the bottom, pay the tuk Q 10 to get you up the steep hill. Your body will thank you later. It is well worth the walk or drive...

We loved this place! On our first night at Santa Cruz we needed a place to eat and Nimajay was recommended by our hostel receptionist at Free Cerveza. Nimajay restaurant exceeded our expectations. We got the burrito and the chowmein. Both were so fresh and flavorful! They have a huge variety to choose from, and the pizza looked delicious as well. Mario, the restaurant manager was extremely friendly and personable. This is his brother’s family run restaurant and we really enjoyed the stories he shared with us. We have a few nights here and we will definitely be going back at least once! Thank you restaurante Nimajay!
