Just had our 3rd breakfast in 3 days here. Searched extensively around Guernsey for a good breakfast menu and good coffee. The food that we found was good but the coffee that accompanied it was, let’s just say, not what we are used too. The Australian love affair with good coffee cannot be put on pause just because we are on the other side of the world. Then we found The Kiln at Oatlands. The breakfast menu was exemplary and the coffee was a god send. The service and management were over and above and very friendly. I highly recommend The Kiln especially if you are used to more flavour and boldness in your coffee rather than the insipid cookie cutter varieties that the franchise and touristy places pump out. Everything is made and served...

Warm welcome. Friendly staff. We were so looking forward to returning here for lunch as it was one of our favourite places to eat last year. I ordered the burger topped with pulled pork and mozerella. I cut it in half and went to take a bite but it was cool in the middle. I caught our waiter’s attention and quietly explained the problem. He apologised and took it back to the kitchen. I expected the same burger to be returned once heated through but what I didn’t expect was the same shrunken burger with hard bits of pulled pork sticking to the top and no cheese at all. It was simply put in a new bun and totally spoiled by the reheating. Such a shame. I did however have a wonderful burger later that week at the Port Soif...

Walked through the lanes from The Bridge to Oatlands on way to L’Islet so stopped off at the Kiln for drinks and cake. Chose the vegan chocolate cake and the raspberry & almond slice together with a pot of tea and a hot chocolate. Both cakes were really nice and I think we chose the right time after lunch when things were a little quieter. Friendly staff and good service. Oatlands itself has changed what it offers as an attraction over the years but he cafe has always been stayed a nice place to meet up with...

Went without booking (note to anyone remotely interested- do book in advance) and they graciously(!) found us a table. The coffee was very good - can’t fault it at all. The breakfast burger/bap looked OK. I had a sausage sandwich - served by a really lovely guy with faultless manners. My food was just rather ordinary with nothing outstanding in the presentation. Was rather disappointed with the dry bread and the re-microwaved sausages. All in all - disappointing- won’t bother returning.

Exceptional food and fantastic staff make this place a must-do location whenever we visit the island. On this occasion we had a vegan burger and a bacon cheeseburger, both with skinny fries. We both found the food incredibly tasty - superb homemade food with fresh ingredients. The staff were excellent - very friendly and prompt to serve even though we clearly had arrived at a very very busy time. We will be visiting again later this week.
