Just had our 3rd breakfast in 3 days here. Searched extensively around Guernsey for a good breakfast menu and good coffee. The food that we found was good but the coffee that accompanied it was, letâs just say, not what we are used too. The Australian love affair with good coffee cannot be put on pause just because we are on the other side of the world. Then we found The Kiln at Oatlands. The breakfast menu was exemplary and the coffee was a god send. The service and management were over and above and very friendly. I highly recommend The Kiln especially if you are used to more flavour and boldness in your coffee rather than the insipid cookie cutter varieties that the franchise and touristy places pump out. I ordered the burger topped with pulled pork and mozerella. I cut it in half and went to take a bite but it was cool in the middle. I caught our waiterâs attention and quietly explained the problem. He apologised and took it back to the kitchen. I expected the same burger to be returned once heated through but what I didnât expect was the same shrunken burger with hard bits of pulled pork sticking to the top and no cheese at all. Chose the vegan chocolate cake and the raspberry & almond slice together with a pot of tea and a hot chocolate. Both cakes were really nice and I think we chose the right time after lunch when things were a little quieter. Friendly staff and good service.
