Taste of India — Restaurant in St. Pierre du Bois

Decided to give the Taste Of India a try whilst staying in the area for a holiday. Didn't pre book but kindly found us a table. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Very small but very authentic Indian restaurant. Loved the decor. Once seated at nice corner table we were given 2 pompadoms and dips which were very good. Liked the mint dip, very refreshing. I had the chicken Ceylon, rice and nan. My Dad went for the chicken Jalfrezi with rice. Few Cobra beers which is a must with curry. We were both very impressed with the service received, the quality of the food, and overall atmosphere of the place. It's a very small restaurant and were very lucky to have got a free table. I would definitely pre book as a recommendation. Seems it's very popular with Gerns and tourists alike. I highly recommend the Taste Of India 👍 Definitely the nicest Indian restaurants I've been to so far...

Service and politeness: Excellent

Sadly enough the food I ordered wasn't up to standard ...the tandoori was just boiled meat dipped in red colour to make it look like tandoori.

Someone not knowing too much about tandoori dishes would say its lovely but there was no tandoori taste to it AT ALL.

For the future ...roasting the meat over the fire or in the oven for some crispness would be lovely.

Tandoori is not just boiled meat which is red in colour, it should have the charcoal taste and kind of crispy in areas.

Please don't boil meat, dip it in red sauce and sell it as tandoori... People may not know but come on cooks ....you know... so give people actual tandoori.

The red colouring made my stomach so puffy. Too much of it.

Taste of India is hidden away in L'Eree Bay but it's well worth searching out. On a Thursday evening, the place was packed so luckily our party of 11 had booked. We were seated immediately and drinks were ordered and poppadoms promptly delivered while we considered what to order from the extensive menu. Despite our numbers and the variety of dishes ordered, the service was prompt, efficient and friendly and the food delicious. The atmosphere was buzzing as the restaurant was so busy but the staff coped incredibly well. Definitely a great place for a curry and some interesting dishes too....
