Ambiance is nice. Waiters are nice. Food is ok, I wouldn't say good.
At our table we had: Fish and chips which apparently was really good
A pizza (chicken one), which was quite basic and had nothing special IMO
A dish with some shrimp. OK, nothing exceptional
Some pastas with crab. Here, the plate was terribly spicy. While we all loved spicy food at our table, this was too much by a large margin. I thought the person who ordered it at our table exagerated because they were not able to eat it at all. So I decided to try it to judge myself as I personnally quite like spicy food. I could've had some fun eating 1/10 of a portion of the plate as a starter. Definitely not the entire plate. We did report it to the waiter when they came and ask how was the meal going. She offered us some yogurt to try temperate the spicyness. Even this didn't change much. 2 people at our table tried to help finish the dish, we just couldn't and left at least 3/10 of the plate. With a total of 3 people trying to eat it. We tried to ask for a few slices of bread just to help a little. We got some but ended up being charged £4.5 for a few slices of bread, that was really not exquisite. We said again when the waiter was picking up plates that it was really too much and that there probably was a cooking issue with this one plate. She just apologized. If I owned the restaurant I'd have at least made a gesture here and lowered the price for that one dish by some margin, maybe just offer it. But nop, we were billed the initial price of £18.5 for a plate 3 people couldn't finish...
So I have to say we were all quite disppointed of the overall experience and even though we wanted some dessert we decided to skip and leave.
If we had another night at our hotel next to it, I'd just eat...
Read moreEarly dinner, gastro pub set in a very scenic location with both food & service to a high standard. Entrance via steps, wheelchair access probably exists but I didn't see it. The venue is extensive in size with both indoor & outdoor seating options. The decor is modern with pleasing pub paraphernalia items, not overdone. Excellent hygiene standards, even the men's room had a baby changing station- very modern I thought. Excellent choices & variety of food on the menu, I couldn't resist the seafood options- oysters; mackerel pate & crab & prawn linguine. All dishes were sublime, the linguine was quite a generous plate ,full of flavour with chillies being a subtle addition. The wine, a french Rose was a little aggressive for the subtleties of the seafood, but that's a personal opinion. The waiting staff were the epitome of service with care, attention and professional standards. The view of the bay from the veranda is outstanding & makes the ideal complement to an impressive menu delivered by a kitchen team that definitely knows their business. Parking is easy & free. I'd advise pre booking your table as it no doubt, rightfully does have...

I decided to spend my day off at Puffin and Oyster, and it was the best choice! Dining solo here was such a treat—relaxing, welcoming, and absolutely delightful.
I started with a passion fruit martini, crafted by the talented Rose. It was flawless—refreshingly tangy and beautifully balanced, setting the perfect tone for my meal. For my main course, I enjoyed a sirloin cooked medium-well, paired with rich, creamy potato dauphinoise. The steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavor, and the dauphinoise was simply luxurious! Compliments to the chefs for making such an outstanding meal.
A special thanks to the incredible team of Rose, Shak, and Ridoy, who went above and beyond with their friendly, attentive service. They made me feel completely at ease and ensured everything was perfect from start to finish.
Puffin and Oyster is the perfect place to unwind with exceptional food, creative cocktails, and a team that genuinely cares. I left feeling relaxed, satisfied, and already excited to return!...
