Had a great food experience at Gio's. I enjoyed the surf and turf for my appetizer. I was expecting a traditional steak. But it was covered with mushroom and gravy to my great disappointment. Then it was wrapped in bacon. I don't eat pork and did not like the toppings. But the lobster tails made up for it. So succulent and buttery. The clarified butter with garlic was perfect and complimented the two 8oz tails. Would recommend to inform the staff how you like your steak ahead of time. But the steak was tender and easy to eat (after removing the extra). The plantains were good also, just didn't help my meal much, but I did like them, it is a local favorite. Now.. my main course was the Eldon special. Wow! A seafood paradise directly in front of me. King crab, lobster tails, shrimp and veggies (to include a small baked potato). The shrimp were awesome, buttery garlic. The lobster tails continue to impress after eating all 4 of them. The king crab was delectable. One of the highlights was placing my potato inside the plate full of buttery garlic mixture and it really put a smile on my face. A great meal at an affordable price even on a budget. Plus an ocean view that is remarkable. Hearing the waves splash against the shore is relaxing and enjoyable. Even though my steak was not how I would have personally ordered it. It still...
Read moreWe went at the suggestion of the driver. Bad on us for taking his advice. The place was completely empty. We were the only ones there. The “Mexican ceviche” isn’t a ceviche at all. It’s a shrimp cocktail. I ordered the Eldon’s special with what was supposed to be king crab legs, lobster and shrimp.
First off, we were expecting ceviche not a shrimp cocktail. It also only came with 1 pack of saltine crackers. Next my Eldon’s Special, I was asked if I wanted everything peeled and cracked when I ordered it. I said yes. I later found out it was $5.00 extra. It would’ve been nice if they had disclosed that in the beginning. The description is as is. Zero salt or seasonings. The lobster tail was way over cooked to the point of chewy. It was disappointing. We were the only ones there and were stormed by gnats and mosquitos throughout our meal. It was so uncomfortable. We quickly asked for the check. It...
Read morePhenomenal service, exquisite food, and perfect Honduras beach atmosphere. Gio, the owner's son, is a remarkable abstract painter and his artwork is displayed for purchase throughout the restaurant, which I absolutely loved looking at. They were beautiful. I plan to purchase a few of his pieces. The one I wanted was too large to take back on my cruise ship, but Gio and I are working out a shipment plan. The family that owns this restaurant has poured their heart and soul into making a lovely place to gather and eat and it shows throughout every aspect of the restaurant. It is appropriate for all occasions and all ages. Perfect for a family meal and all attire. This was my first time in Honduras and Gio's is my most favorite memory out of my entire week-long cruise. Much love to Gio's and I hope to visit...
