One of the best Restaurants on our Trip to Iceland! Luck in the "misfortune". Short and sweet, great place and Gregor is a great cook and host who knows how to spoil and entertain his guests. Best evening of our trip! Best food!
Long version: Fortunately, we were one of the (maybe THE) last guests for the summer season 2021. After we placed our order and got our beer, Gregor disappeared in the kitchen, which surprised us a bit, since no one else could take care of the guests, he was alone in the restaurant. After a while Gregor came back with the main course. Unfortunately, our appetizer was not taken into account, which was not a problem for us, because the main course tasted great! After we pointed this out to Gregor, he apologized several times and sincerely, saying that he was alone in the store and his waiters were already on winter break. He was actually the cook. We had fullest understanding! We wanted to try a dessert anyway. After we were the last guests we got to talk with Gregor and Gregor entertained us the rest of the evening. Super nice interlocutor who likes to talk about Iceland and life on the island. We were very interested and probably asked a lot. After another 2 beers we got a free sample (we asked only out of interest) of the famous fermented shark "Hákarl" - it is on the menu as a regular appetizer. In addition a Brennivin. The skipped appetizer was long forgotten. After we learned how whale and puffin meat tastes and we talked about other sea creatures Gregor disappeared again in the kitchen and came back with a large knife on which two thick slices of smoked salmon stuck. These we had to try immediately. We did not refuse and it was delicious! All in all a great evening, we laughed a lot, learned a lot, ate and drank a lot and well and learned to understand Iceland better and were also able to hear Gregor's moving story. Thank you Gregor! Many greetings and hope to see you...
Read moreHands down the best meal we had in Iceland and we've been here a week and a half. We started with the smoke salmon starter that came with smoked Gouda cheese and slices of rye bread. I hate rye bread but this was absolutely delicious! We then shared a cod dinner and ended with gluten free chocolate cake. I can eat gluten, but I will make this almond flour treat back home. The homemade blueberry jam and whipped cream was a perfect on the side. Service was fast and the chef came out to serve the meal. This is one restaurant I will miss when I leave Iceland and the first one I will return to on...
Read moreWe were there Yesterday and i have to say, one of the best meals we've had. We had the lamb wich is really expensive, but it was enought for 2 people and he split it up for 2 in the kitchen. Extremly delicious. There is a pool-table where you can play for free while you are waiting. The meat is from the islandic sheeps and you can inform you about it very good by asking him. The music is good and not too loud. Also the fish soup had 50% fish in it, with very big chunks. All in sudden one of the best restaurants we've visited all over the...
