Not really kid friendly, also, a little confusing.
There’s American popular food on the menu and compared to most places we visited coming counter clockwise from Keflavík this place wasn’t really special. Stopped here because of its reviews as kid friendly, however the staff are just a bunch of teenagers not really trained to deal with kids thus they seemed annoyed that our toddler didn’t have impeccable table manners and tried spilling everything they conveniently put at his reach. It’s simple guys, you see a kid in a high chair, don’t put anything near them, they’ll tip it over.
They have a little house for kids to play in but it was kinda dirty, obviously this isn’t priority to clean. I wouldn’t have come here if you didn’t advertise as family/kid friendly.
The rest of the restaurant was very stiff, with wine cups and roses on the table, orange romantic lap napkins... also, wait to be seated just to be pointed in a general direction? It was so unnecessary.
It seemed like this place was trying to be Too many things: a kid friendly restaurant, a romantic getaway destination and a weary traveler rescue haven all in one.
You guys have to decide because, as other people mentioned, it makes it so much easier to grab the same quality bite to eat at the gas station without the hassle of this place. Definitely below the average of what we learned to...
Read moreAwesome food! Came here pretty much because there's not many other restaurants to have dinner at. But that worked out great. Had the BBQ lamb and the fish of the day (which happened to be catfish). The lamb was fairly tender (cooked medium which is the way I like it - not too bloody but not too tough). You can choose how done you like it. But the flavor was excellent. Nice BBQ flavor and the sauce that accompanied it was beautiful. The catfish far surpassed my expectations. It came as a fillet over an inch thick and looked very ordinary. But when you put it in your mouth, it literally bursts with juice and flavor. It's hard to make a fish meal awesome (to me, at least, since fish is so easy to get overdone and end up dry), but this dish was stunning. This restaurant is not cheap. Pretty much nothing in Iceland is cheap. But it isn't any more expensive than in most other restaurants I have...
Read moreWay too many dishes on the menu, the vast majority of the food is frozen and badly reheated.
One staff member pressed us 3 times in a row to tell them their food was good because we politely said it was ok. Another staff member was annoyed at the people ordering at their bar and didn't want to turn the lights or music on for us.
The steaks in the burgers come just shy of charcoal and they don't bother to ask you how you want them cooked anyway.
The pizzas are greasy undercooked frozen pizzas reheated on a dirty pan.
Beer is also significantly more expensive than in the capital and even craft beer in the countryside and the choice of beeers...
