It saddens me that a new restaurant with much potential decided to play small with us in the following ways:
Lack of Transparency: They did not disclose all their prices to us.
Portion Size: We ordered their lamb dinner and the portions were so incredibly small, we felt compelled to order a pizza to have some sense of satisfaction. We have dined in many restaurants in Iceland and can confidently note that portion sizes were substantially larger at a fraction of the cost.
Their homemade desert was also very small and their price was substantially higher, if not double, the cost of any restaurant we have dined in Iceland.
Bill Transparency: They did not provide us with an itemized bill and only did so after a few weeks of prodding after the fact, as their bill seemed grossly inflated even for Icelandic Standards.
Bait and Switch: Discovering that I was a scotch connoisseur and having providing them with many suggestions as to how to improve the content of their bar, they requested me to sample a local Icelandic product in order to give them feedback if this would be appropriate as a bar item for guests. Unbeknownst to us, they then charged us for that in an undisclosed bill for same.
We spoke to them about this recently to clear the air. The restaurant was very defensive about this bait and switch despite creating a positive video for their restaurant about their product and hospitality. They also thought it would be smart to gaslight us and make us feel bad about what they did.
Having taught Hospitality at the prestigious NYU Graduate Program in New York City, this would be a shining example ,if not common sense, of what not to do as a restaurant owner to build relations with your guests and build your brand.
The owners come across as very friendly but count your fingers on...

Here's the English translation of your text, keeping the tone and details engaging:
It is said that an exceptional meal can be a great reason to travel to a place, purely due to the quality of the food served.
You'll find such a spot in Hólmavík, a fishing village located in northwest Iceland.
Café Riis offers a menu mainly consisting of pizza and local fish dishes. It was actually my first time visiting a restaurant that featured cod cheeks on the menu. For those who haven't tried them before, cod cheeks are the most flavorful part of the cod and severely underrated.
However, we skipped the fish because the lamb seemed even more intriguing. At Café Riis, the fillet is served with a centimeter thick layer of fat, scored and fried to create a crispy crackling on top. This fat also adds more flavor to the meat and definitely shouldn't be cut away. It tastes fantastic!
Butter fried potatoes, baby carrots, and bell peppers played their parts as a delicious backdrop, giving the dish depth. A delicate béarnaise cream topped it all off. Simply delightful!
My wife and I had just finished an active day in Ísafjörður, and after three hours on the road, we were quite tired and hungry when we arrived in Hólmavík.
A warm thank you to both the waiters and chefs at Café Riis for giving our day a...
Read morethe food was good and that's the only good thing about this restaurant. service is disgusting. I have been to many places in the world and have never seen such rudeness anywhere. food was carried for a very, very long time. an hour and a half waiting for soup and pizza…… dessert that is in the fridge was also carried for an hour and a half, and ordinary tea - 40 minutes. and this long wait could still be forgiven if the staff of the restaurant did not start to be rude and humiliate us when we absolutely calmly tried to talk to them.
humiliate a girl, referring to her different mentality and age - how can this happen in a civilized country? terribly ashamed. the owner of the restaurant, who told us that if we are campers, then we came to the wrong place, hinting that we are too poor for a restaurant instead of a civilized apology for the unforgivably long wait for completely banal things - he was very mistaken when he passed it... yes, we are campers, but very solvent guys and we do not want such a vile attitude towards any other guests.
therefore, I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. delicious food is not worth the spoiled mood, humiliation and waiting, it is also not worth it.
terrible.
p.s. now I feel like this can of non-alcoholic beer that was brought to me, by the way, an hour...
