Had the oven-baked cod here and within 30mins after eating, I felt cold and sick threw up due to unfresh food. This was the only time during my trip where the food made me ill. This place advertises itself as a seafood restaurant but the seafood selections on the menu are too few. It's more a museum café where you can find some warm dishes. I ordered the seafood soup and the oven-baked cod. The seafood soup was salty with some fish bits and prawns. The seafood in the soup was unfresh. The oven-baked baked cod itself is somewhat pungent, dry, also salty and has some taste of being cooked from frozen. The veggies beneath the fish are plain and doesn't taste that fresh too. It was really not worthwhile coming all the way here for seafood. Prices are also too high and the experience is unsatisfactory.

A bit unexpected that this really cool museum also serves excellent food. The lamb soup (meat soup) was very tasty and the meat very tender, probably the best I've had on my whole trip across Iceland

Small place with a good food. I tried fish soup, it was delicious, and cod with vegetables, also very good. The menu is short. There is a entrance to museum directly from the restaurant.

Restaurant Galdur offers a fantastic seafood experience with fresh ingredients and a cozy Icelandic atmosphere. The menu features a great selection of local seafood, and everything we tried was well-prepared and full of flavor. The lobster soup was a standout—rich, creamy, and comforting. The grilled cod was fresh and flaky, and the mussels were cooked perfectly in a delicious white wine sauce.

The service was friendly and welcoming, though it took a bit longer than expected for our food to arrive. While the wait was a little longer than ideal, the quality of the food made up for it. The restaurant’s ambiance is warm and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a relaxed meal.

Overall, Restaurant Galdur is a great choice for seafood lovers, and I would definitely recommend it. A little faster service would make it a perfect...

After being in fabulous restaurant in Isafiurdur, with friends we decided to go to Galdur next day. Very sadly, I must say that it was a major disappointment. After paying like 3,5k ISK for fish I expected not to leave hungry. Unfortunately, portion was tiny, small bowl with fish in some sauce/soup? + ... 2 small pieces of bread and some tiny portion of salad. What’s worse - fish was average, definitely too sour. Small portion, high price and average quality is not something I wanted to receive here. My girlfriend ordered seafood soup which was ok, nothing special but also not bad. Overall I sadly have to write that I’d not recommend...
