American Style — Restaurant in Hafnarfjordur

I thought I would try this for a change from KFC which is 2 mins away. BIG MISTAKE. Ordered the only chicken burger on the menu, With the meal not being cheap to start with I was expecting to have chicken on the burger but i don't think a chicken breast is this small. I put the 2 piece's of chicken from the burger on to the fork to show just what was on that burger. Gob smacked for words... Probably the worst chicken burger I have ever had. I'm sticking with the KFC there from now on, chicken burgers have 2... yes 2 quite large chicken breast piece's on them, are better and much cheaper for a meal.

So now today after 3 years has passed has anything changed ??? SADLEY NO. The food tonight was sent back to the kitchen as it was served cold. Then to make it worse the same food was return to us, warmer with the same bite out of the burgers but now un-edable and burnt black. No attempt to replace the food just re-heat what was sent back. It was bad to the point we just left. Unfortunately you have to pay as you order so you can't see what you will get first. BE...

Horrible experience. We ordered a fish and fries meal, chicken tenders and a sandwich with fries meal, all to go. The website said we had to wait 20 minutes. We waited 25 and went inside to pay, just to be told that we'd have to wait another another 15 minutes. We waited 20 and finally our order was ready. Got home, opened up our meals, and lo and behold, no fries with the sandwich. There was surprisingly little fish as well.

Another time I ordered the chicken salad meal and at the restaurant it was big and delicious. Then I tried having it to go, and I got half as much food for the same expensive price. It wasn't an optical illusion, there was just so much less that could fit into the takeaway box than the large plate they usually serve it on.

The waiting time has always been horrible, even since I went there as a kid back in 2009. Don't order anything to go from here.

The food is decent at the restaurant itself, if you have the patience to wait 40 minutes...

Wow, has the quality dropped at American Style or what! The last 2-3 years I have been in denial for their reduced quality but tonight I had my very last burger. I have enjoyed their burgers for over 30 years but no more. The burger tonight was "Heavy Special", something I always order and the party was so tough and overcooked that I gave up on it after eating less than half, and ate only the veggies and fries which were nice. The Pepsi machine was out of Pepsi but they fixed that in a minute but the soda I got was totally flat without any CO2 in it... Big disappointment, and my last chance for this...
