The first time we came here (2018) was a 5 star experience and an equivalent 1-2 Michelin-star menu (before it had a star, which was given in 2019), interesting dishes such as moss ice and lamb over a yew log were very flavorful and memorable. At that time there was no sommelier, the staff was working things out, and wine was poured multiple times per dish, which was also very memorable (and enjoyable 😆)

This time, the experience is still mostly 5 stars, the staff more polished and the sommelier made a few interesting recommendations to our 7 course tasting.

A bit awkward however was that we prepaid for a 7 course menu, but the wine pairing only paired 6 courses, and the cheese plate pairing was extra. The cost was negligible, but if you're going to pair 7, pair 7, not 6+maybe 1 more. For a now-Michelin experience, charge what you want, but nickle and diming amidst confusion only creates anxiety and detracts from the experience, hardly worth it.

The dishes this time also lacked a bit in flavor and thought, tilting to Italian and Japanese with nothing uniquely Icelandic. The parmesan snow tasted more like snow, less parmesan. Star anise made its way into a few dishes and the dessert that was a bit overpowering and regrettable. The highlight was the langoustine with miso and dashi reduction, which I would love to revisit a few times. It appears we just missed the wagyu dish which rotated out for a lamb presented in a cypress basket, which did not impress as much as the earlier smoky rosemary yew log version. The 2 additional dishes, especially the cheese plate (which is a bit lazy), in the 7 course did not seem to be worthwhile this go around.

In the future we do hope the chef can gravitate to dishes that are more impactful and descriptive of the local terroir. This time some of the dishes seemed to lack the refinement of our previous visits.

P.S. not sure why the nearest restroom is still down 2 flights of stairs outside and beneath the restaurant, kind of poor...

Hats off to the chef and the impeccable service. One of the best Michelin recommended restaurant I’ve tried. Incredible fine dining and I would say the best meal I had in Iceland. Checked in at premium Blue Lagoon this afternoon and the staff at the entrance reception promised us with a reservation at Moss Restaurant. After our indulgence at the Lagoon Spa, we walked to the moss restaurant at around 7pm sharp. And to our surprise, we were told that we did not make a reservation. I was really shocked and blood rises up immediately because I really hate to be disappointed when we were promised with a reservation at Moss. We spoke to the restaurant manager name Andrea. She handled us very professionally and calmly despite of my mini outburst out of the first reaction.

Somehow, Andrea manage to get us a table top seat and served us with beautiful dishes that catches our eye and our soul. Every dish was catered to our preference and the presentation was expressive. Nice restaurant ambience too! Outstanding! Great Job!

They even prepared a mini bday cake for my partner. What a lovely surprise! I highly recommend this experience and will definitely come here...

My wife and I recently traveled to Iceland and stayed at the Retreat at the Blue Lagoon to celebrate her birthday. While we were there, we had the absolute pleasure and privilege to dine at Moss. The meal we were treated to at this incredible restaurant was an astonishing, one of a kind experience that we will never forget.

Each course was truly amazing and reflected a tremendous amount of thought and care, both in terms of ingredients and preparation. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious and perfectly executed. Chef Aggi Sverrisson and his talented team are clearly masters of Icelandic cuisine and my wife and I are so grateful to have enjoyed their exceptional work.

We would also be remiss not to recognize the incredible staff at Moss. I have never encountered a more polished, gracious, and dedicated team of servers. Their warmth and attention enhanced our already outstanding experience and I am so thankful to all of them for everything they did to make our evening so special and memorable. A dinner at Moss was the ideal way to wrap up our first trip to this beautiful and amazing country. We cannot...
