We went to this restaurant on Sunday, 2/23/25 because our tour guide took us to this place while we were out to see the Northern Lights. The tour guide made reservations for us and recommended this restaurant because he said he goes here regularly. The food was horrible we had the Beef Tenderloins, it arrived at the table raw so we requested it to be cooked longer. When I received the meat it was extremely tough, so tough I could not cut it with a knife. The vegetables that came with the tenderloins were hard and undercooked so I did not eat them. Me and my partner decided to share a piece of cheesecake but it was awful. It seems the chef was trying too hard to be creative with the menu. He added guava and passionfruit and it seems every dish was done over the top. When you order a cheesecake it is not complicated, the chef made everything complicated trying too hard to be creative. The worse thing that happened is we got a cold or flu as soon as we left the restaurant. My throat became sore right away that evening. The kitchen help or waitstaff must have been sick and coughed or sneezed near our food. We were sick ever since we left the restaurant and throughout the rest of our time in Iceland. We were so disappointed with this expensive disaster of a meal especially since our tour guide brought us there. We would not have chosen this restaurant if it...
Read more100% 5 Stars, I entered 2 minutes before closing time and there was no other guest anymore, I asked wether I was too late but was told, to please have a seat. There was no hesitation although they just could’ve closed. The waitress was very friendly and I could order the second I put down the menu. I got my drink half a minute later and didn’t need to wait much longer for my food. A couple minutes later I got my order and the food was delicious. Great taste and crunchy but not dry. All in all definitely a great restaurant with a great pizza, the closest I’ve ever got to an italian pizza without being in Italy. And the last thing is the pricing which many people criticized, first thing, Iceland in general is pricy, compared to Germany, France etc. you can easily double to triple the price of some things. Actually the pizza is cheap compared to other restaurants because the big pizza is for two people, you can even put two different toppings on it, like one side Margherita and the other Hawaii. So the pizza price is for two people. A pizza for 5140kr (36,12€ /38,67$) is enough for two which equals in 2570kr (18,06€/ 19,33$) for one, it’s also worth mentioning that this is one of the expensive ones you can get a large pizza for close to 3000kr. So again all in all top restaurant a big...
Read moreWe stopped in here on our way to Gullfoss. It was very cold and windy. We both ordered the soup (it was pumpkin and it was served with what one might Christmas spices - we were here in late November). It had a very nice creamy texture and good flavor. Just the kind of thing to warm you up. We each had a salad. My husband had the salad with langostines. I had the one with fresh veggies. Both salads came with garlic bread. My husband had a local beer and I had red wine. The person who waited on us was also the owner (I believe). At the end of our meal we chatted with him for a few minutes. It truly is a family run business. He said that his wife and daughter both work here. They make homemade chocolate and while it looked and smelled delicious we passed (just very full from lunch). I have read other reviews where people complained about prices, I felt that the prices were what one should expect- Iceland is expensive! It's currency is stronger then the Euro or the dollar, so it costs more for those of us who use those currencies. I was happy to support a family...
