visited Udupi Akshaya today at 6:56 AM,(May 16th 2025) just 4 minutes before the officially mentioned takeaway start time of 7:00 AM. To my surprise, I was told by a staff member named Krishna (wearing black spectacles, fair complexion) that it would take more than 30 minutes to prepare any order, despite it being a takeaway request and just minutes before the kitchen supposedly opens.
What disappointed me more was the complete lack of customer service, not a single one of the three staff members present made any effort to approach or ask about my requirement. I was left standing there with zero engagement, which felt extremely unprofessional and dismissive.
Eventually, I had to leave and purchase food elsewhere, not because I wanted to, but because I had no choice. It’s really frustrating when you intentionally avoid online food delivery platforms to support a local business directly, and then face this kind of service at the physical counter.
I genuinely hope the management takes this feedback seriously. Please ensure orders are ready by the promised time, and train the staff to at least acknowledge and assist walk-in customers with basic courtesy. Your food has a reputation, but service like this will drive loyal...
Read moreThere was a decent crown when we reached the restaurant and we were lucky that we got a table immediately without any waiting. Our family was 4 adults and 1 kid. We ordered various mix and found them all to be tasty enough. I am from Bangalore and I am pretty used to the Udupi style/Darshini/Fastfood hotels. By that standard, the taste was good. The staff was kind enough to make phulkas for my daughter in the exact way we wanted. We decided to come back again for the next day's lunch to this place. The lunch was also pretty much the same and we were finally making inquiries for take-away food for our train journey in the evening, The staff clearly explained how the food would be packed, the quantity, its complementing dishes and so on. The packing also was definitely up to the mark and we thoroughly enjoyed the packed meals in the train.
The food was easy on our stomach, including the kid. That is something we were very happy about. Overall kudos to the staff who are warm, supportive and seemed accommodating of our requests. As a traveler, I rate them 4/5 and the improvements needed would be on the the service, ambiance and need for a...

I’ve been visiting this place for over a decade—every time I come down from Mumbai to Rajahmundry, Udupi near Kotipalli Bus Stand has been a fixed stop. It was always about comfort, consistency, and that familiar taste of home. But today’s visit left me genuinely disappointed.
I went there this afternoon and ordered the usual meals. The place was crowded, which is normal, but the service was shockingly poor. I had to literally ask multiple times—almost beg—for the podis and ghee that are usually served without a fuss. It felt like they were doing me a favor, not serving a customer.
The food itself was underwhelming. Only one brinjal curry, and even that lacked flavor. The fry was bland, and overall, the meal felt rushed and careless. For the first time in 10 years, I walked out feeling like the place had lost its charm.
I don’t know if it’s a change in management or just a bad day, but this wasn’t the Udupi I’ve known and loved. I truly hope they bring back the quality and warmth that made this...
